    Nice one Eddie!

Not sure I completely agree with all of his statements, but the fact is that the stewards penalised a driver for racing. It was the stewards that made the decision, not the FIA. Hopefully the FIA will realise the damage such an odd decision has made to the credibility of F1 and they will reverse it.

i respectfully disagree, David. during a pitstop, driver rely heavily on the lollipop man or the traffic lights in Ferrari's case, to ensure it's safe to get off the pitbox.

also, in a pitstop, even if the driver tries to look in the mirrors, he'll only be able to see his own mechanics behind, and at the side of the car. i seriously doubt Massa could see that far away with his mirrors.

Former drivers such as Lauda and Irvine babble now and then just to keep their name in the headlines. Trulli was in that race and has no dog in the fight. He told it like it was. No BS. Irvine was hardly ever a serious racer so why would anyone ever take anything he says seriously.

He won many more races and got closer to the WDC than Trulli did.

I concur with your statement fully.
AFTER leaving the pit is was his responsibility to let up and allow the car already in the pit out lane to proceed.
    Not play chicken with him.
And he DID see him or else there would have been a crash.

Let's see now, on the one hand I have the opinions of Niki Lauda and Eddie Irvine both of whom spent years as race drivers and won many Grands Prix, indeed one of them is a former F1 world champion. On the other I have the opinion of Franco who owns a 355. Which one should I take more seriously? Mmm, that's a tough one. ;)

Ferrari has been a crooked team since it's beginning...it gives Italians a worse black eye than the mafia!..and I love Ferraro automobiles and have owned 6 since the early 90s...

Just trying to get his name back in the newspapers.

I agree that LH probably would have won the race, but he misses the point. I read that in the driver's meeting the drivers were told that if they cut that chicane there would be a 25 second penalty. They were told that before the race. It is not about giving way after cutting the chicane, it is about know that the penalty was 25 seconds and somebody sticking to the rule.

+1 (to clarify they were warned several times this year in drivers briefings that to cut ANY corner the driver would have to rescind the passing maouvre AND any advantage gained by doing so.)

    And a couple of points

Firstly isnt this a Ferrari website, so attacking Ferrari's could be a better option on a McLaren or Williams website. Maybe even the "I wanna have Lewis Hamilton's love child" website could be a better forum.

And LH has been rather notorious this year for legitimate but slightly risky passing manouvres and eventually someone was going to stand in his way. MS aparently learnt not only when to pass but when not too. Like why didnt LH just wait for the hill after Eau Rouge and take KIMI up the hill ???. Surely he could see how much KIMI was struggling to get the power down, I would have thought that was reasonably basic and would have been foolproof.

It is not about gaining position, it is about gaining advantage.

    I agree with Trulli's take:

there's always plenty of Aussie/Kiwi IT mercenaries in London showing your lot the way, maybe I should just ring my compatriots in the UK and get them to pull the plug on the crying towel nation of whiners until you get over this Hamilton wanker

somebody please play the "BOO HOO" card for the UK crying towel brigade :)

Actually we did turn off that switch but the large number of Poms here through our compassionate rufugee program asked to be reconnected so they could boast about the weather to the folks back home.

there is that very old joke (based on fact it seems :) )about the ground staff at the airport telling the pilot of the British Airways flights to turn the engines off after they land only to find out it is just the passengers causing all the whining :D

Can't say i'm surprised to hear you say that.
Eddie is a tool who just wants attention.
While i agree with the principle of "let them race," this guy is washed up and this is just another pathetic attempt to get his whiny little voice heard.
    Give me a break.

How is him expressing his opinion, WHEN HE'S ASKED WHAT HE THINKS, any worse than you offering your opinion on a website, when no one asked you for it? Eddie is an extremely accomplished man, as he made himself wealthy before he even made it to F1. If people ask what he thinks, and he gives an honest and frank opinion, what's wrong with that? He has the experience to know what he's talking about, and if he can add a little humor, then all the better! You sound bitter and jealous, I think your post is what's pathetic here...

I can live with that just fine.

I much rather have a racer who tells it like it is than a multiple champion whose every line has been written by a PR manager.

I can believe Eddie Irvine as to the location of a woman's G-spot. But in this case, what a croc. He is about as convincing and credible as....as.....PeeWee Herman.

    Give me a 'f-ing break.

Now, the Pope and Pamela Anderson I might believe. It appears that half of the UK has its head buried in the sand, no make that the cow dung, on this subject.
