OK, here is one that I have not seen yet and I have printed out every slow window thread in the entire world! Here goes and I hope you can follow or understand the problem. Upon reassembly of doors/windows

    1. There is power to both windows switches (proved that with a multi meter and measuring in the static position on switches through the middle wires in the switches along with continuity between fuse box and switches)
    2. Passenger side window works appropriately
    3. Drivers side window does not work unlkess: you use the passenger side switch at the same time for either direction (up or down)
    4. Wired correctly according to manual diagram
    5. New switches for all three
    6. All relays work.
    7. Replacing Fuse Board with Birdman's trusty little pieces (Sunday)

This backwards crossed line thing baffles me, my wiring guy and any thread on the subject.

6 pack to the guy who can solve this. Seriously and I mean beer.

Um, did they work correctly BEFORE you took everything apart?! Have you tried putting the old switches BACK in and seeing if the system works?

    8. Put in old switches and wired them according to diagrams as well as multiple other ways. Bought new switches after this. Old switches have been in twice in this routine. Neither time any difference in results.

What all did you have apart? Do you loose power at the inop sw when it is activated and only gain it back when the pass. side is also activated?

Your getting dangerously close to 12 yr. Single Malt territory.

yummm, just polished off a 1964 bottle -yep a 42yr !!! ohh man was that just.........

alright to the problem at hand.

the two inner contacts on the switch are the ground loop, should have two wires in one and one in the other, not having the diagram in front of me I'm not 100% sure if the switches share a ground. it almost sounds like a ground issue in that the drivers switch relies on the ground from the passenger switch. now this is if you do indeed have power when static. have you tested the red/? wire (power) to the ground black wire for voltage at the switch itself? sounds like it but I'm not fully understanding your description.

did you pull the switch fully apart down to the inner contacts? and i think it has a small bulb in there as well.

for now I'll lean on it sharing a ground if you do have power independently.

    lots more testing....

I'll check the grounding/share issue and let you know.

I have had the switches apart and there is only a rocker no bulb.

    Thank you.

Check your ground. The other window is providing the rest of the circuit when you hit the switch, I have had similar situations happen to me. Run a wire from your battery ground to the bad door to test, I'm pretty certain that is your problem.

Can someone please post a wiring diagram for the window switches? A pic of a wiring diagram scribbled on a used piece of toilet paper would even do! Ive had my switches unplugged for just 5 short years and somehow my memory just aint good enough to get them wired up right on my 79 GTB, go figure.

    Thanks.

I ended up running a ground to the battery. It worked. My factory ground and just attaching it to another place on the door did not work, weirdly enough. So the problem is solved. PM me your address and I will make good on my reward. Thanks alot, we were stumped big time. This site's knowledge is great.
