Ciao All Well today it happened I got stung finaly???????$hite???????? I was leaving my club tonight for home luckily it is only 4 blocks away the first 3 blocks went fine no worries then the last block I felt something a little strange when I depressed the clutch couldn't figure out what exactly then I go to up shift and OMG no clutch at all just a mushy pedal. I was able to coast close to home and my neighbor helped me push the car in. From behind the car there is lubricant leaks light green in color????? I assume that I just blew a hose for the hydraulic clutch or a slave clutch but I need your expert opinion. I have not looked for the leak as of yet since it is late I will tomorrow but the puddle is directly under the clutch housing but the lubricant might be running down from another location. Gentlemen any ideas?
If it leaked out that quickly, it probably blew apart the clutch release bearing. It MAY be the seals, but I would suspect that the bearing itself has cracked. It's also remotely possible that the hydraulic pipe for the clutch release has fractured, but I'd bet on the bearing. There are uprated Hill bearings available from our friend Daniel at Ricambi, and the labor isn't terribly difficult, but I'm sure it's quite inconvenient.
Im with Jeff on this one. It could have blown out the seals in the TO bearing, but it may have also cracked the TO bearing housing. Rip it apart Roberto and see what you need for repair brother.
Hey Berto, this thread illustrates what Jeff is talking about http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=182659
Thank you Jeff, Pap, Ernie you guys Rule... And thank you Daniel at Ricambi he help with all my questions and with my order Hell of a man that Daniel.
Don' panic if there was no problem before this incident it is most likely a hose from the slave cylinder to the clutch if this is the case a $100 note should cover it.
This exact situation happened to me two weeks ago although I was 5 miles from home. Nothing like 'power' shifting at the exact rpm to avoid any grinding during, rush hour, and trying desperatley not to have to stop the car at any lights forcing you to stop the engine and start it in first gear. Mine was a cracked slave cylinder housing. Once inside of that, there is a shaft that goes back and forth which was slightly roughed up from debrise getting inside which in turn rubs against those seals and eventually tears them up. My mechanic pulled out the shaft and turned it on a lathe to smooth it out. New slave from Ricambi...no big deal. Replaced the pressure plate and disk while in there. New clutch...yummy! -Billy
Has anyone ever seen the cast iron T/O Slave units crack? I know I have seen the newer aluminum ones do it a few times.... Was the fluid coming out of the little metal grate under the clutch assembly aka 'pumpkin' area? If so, then it is for sure something to do with the T/O Slave unit...
My spider seized her TO bearing in the first season I had her. One heck of a squeal, new clutch since we're in there anyways, and all is good. Good you're still driving, isn't it winter in SK yet?
Ciao Boys sure enough a cracked slave cylinder I replaced it with the upgraded 355 version my mechanic did it in less than 2 hours only problem was that it is a ***** to bleed the system first time I drove it the pedal felt to soft and grabbed way at the bottom so I called our good friends at Ricambi and they informed me on how difficult it was to bleed and to do it more franticly.....and that did the trick good as new. Only problem is that I have a 355 part on my car..... I hope now I don't start converting everything like our friend from Kuwait...
I guess you probably spoke to our customer service agent "Stumpy" (aka David). His left leg is the size of a tree trunk, and fast as a whip too! Indeed, as he tells it, you need to just go completely postal on the clutch to get pressure built into the system. Now, more importantly... any pictures of the blown one?
That is a problem, will you know what to do with all the extra attention you will receive from the ladies? Correct answer is to give them my number, I have the whole 355
