This modification is not seen so often on CS. Can you share your opinions about this? Pictures, personal experience/opinion is welcome. Was it some extra premium for this mod or classic power windows are more expansive? I am just thinking about CS and not sure if i should have it or not. I am not sure if it practice thing or not, but i realy like it, make the car even more rare and sporty IMO. But even more harder to find some car with this mod. BTW i plan to track my future CS but also use it for normal roads of course.

    It's NOT a modification ... it's OEM

If you want the lexan side windows for track use..dont.

First off the 360 Challenge cars came with lexan windows and they were removed and replaced with nets. The problem is that the opening isnt large enough to pull the driver to safety if there is a problem. I personally saw an incident at Lime Rock where a Challenge car rolled and the driver was trapped. Car didnt catch fire and he was fine

Second off it is a good bet that alot of car clubs wont let you run with those windows for the above mentioned reason. NASA here asks that windows are rolled down in beginner groups and nets be installed for more advanced groups. When I raced a Porsche, there was a cool net system that clipped in/out leaving no drill holes.

lastly..venting is really bad with those windows. Many Challenge drivers rigged systems to get more airflow into the car by drilling tennis ball sized holes and/or installing tubes

Thats realy good interesting point. Thanks. I see it on many EU Stradales, i thought its advantage but look like its actually oposite. In this case i dont understand why Ferrari had this option - less safety, more heat inside , no advantage at all..... Does anyone know if there was some premium to have them or it was cheaper than standard power windows?

In the UK the lexan side windows were an expensive option.
This is a rare option so the cars that have it that have come on the market are slightly more expensive to buy to similar spec condition CS's.
I beleive that the factory weight loss claim of 120kg was with these windows fitted.

    Hey Petr,

Apart from its light-weight material, the lexan window is looking damn cool on CS!

Even the newer roadracer as Scuderia cant have it on as an option.

But can it be installed on the Scuderia since both cars share essentially the same door and roof?

would seem ok. Only thing I could think of would be the size of the mount for the 2 side mirrors. The Scuderia has a much larger Carbon mirror and *might* have a larger base plate (or what ever its called). Just a guess.

Unless I had a full interior fire system, I don't think I'd like to be caught in predicament where the doors couldn't be opened ... it's a lot easier to break out a glass window as opposed to one of Lexan.

    IMHO

I find that the Lexan windows are absolutely fine for the road. Not too hot and don't forget the CS has aircon. I normally drive with them open.

Slight wind noise at speed but totally lost due to engine noise. Not as secure although the windows have a locking system. Leak a little in the rain.

Look very cool and get a lot of attention.

Can anyone confirm the wieght saving as 120kg seems like a lot but would make a big difference, nearly 10%...
In any case they look v cool and enhance the road racer feel.

Kenny, i agree they look very cool, make the car even more sporty and rare. I see now that main reason is weight saving. Question is how difficult is to break them in case of accident to get out.

Always understood you pop them out in one piece.
Think if you put it on its roof the front screen should pop for sure.

just realised that is a very different window than the 360 Challenge car. This lexan window is a 2 peice and the Challenge car is a 1 piece
