Cannot engage 1st gear - 308 QV - Help !

    When I shift into 1st gear, the lever went into the slot, but when I release the clutch, no gear is engaged, ie the car did not move and rev did not drop. I then add a little gas, its just like being in neutral. I tried shifting into 2nd , then back on 1st, and its still the same. Only when I shift into reverse, then into 1st, and works. Has anyone experienced this before ?

    Might need a little more info; problem came out of the blue? Recent trans/clutch work? Just bought the car?

    Based only on what you've written here I'd check the linkage for some adjustment first.

    The cra has been working fine and the problem just came "out of the blue". Once shifting into reverse then to 1st, everything just work normally.... until the car stops and goes directly into first again, then the problem reappears.

    Sounds like a shifter fork is out-of-alignment. Not a big task at all.

    Do a search on not going into first.
    There's *lots* of threads on it.

    Usually, as was my case, one of two linkage bushings goes bad from age. If those were recently replaced, then look at the alignment.
