This AM put it in first and let out the clutch....no go!
    Yes, the engine was running
The pedal felt normal but the trans acted like it was in neutral
I then put it in second and away we went
Drove the car all day and this only happened twice more
    Hate intermittent problems
Any suggestions as to the problem?

Check out the PN 106814 "Silentbloc". Kind of pricey ~ 60bux! Ouch! Goes on the trans input shaft. EZ to get to. Take out the bolt that attaches the trans input shaft, I'd expect the rubber to be mush. Need some special tools to do a neat job of pressing it in. If this is in bad shape typically due to being oil soaked for 20+ years, it is not translating your motions to the trans.

    Good luck!

PS: Kwick story. Many many yrs ago I heard of a 246gt selling cheap because of this problem. The prob was only this bushing. My point is this prob can be diagnosed as something huge.

Had exactly this on my car a few years ago, the local Specialist Shop picked it up and replaced really quickly and it didn't cost the earth.
