Yep, Gun metal will look good with the matte and also look good with the blue. I am not sure how gloss gun metal will look on the blue and all matte with the wrap might be too much...... Anyone here good with photo shop? Can they wrap rims?
Someone smashed into it and now you want to go for camo, asking for trouble! Anyway looks like good workmanship and a cool way to change the car as it suits you without hassle
Re the matt black Ferrari - looks like a fun experiment but I hear that it chips really easily at the front - as it is softer than clearbra - and looks tatty very quickly. Whether is a good idea or not really depends on the price - how much was it?
Maybe - but then if you imported it to Australia you'd have to add stamp duty, extra gst and luxury 'wrap' tax (to protect the domestic wrap industry), so that would put it up over $AU7K, wouldn't it? C
Should have given $3K more and got a proper paintjob in matt black. $3800 is A LOT of coin, especially if it aint going to last. Those that said that is a great idea because you can always remove it if you dont like it must earn a lot more money than me. Cause if I paid $3800 for that...........I would NEVER remove it from the car!!
Looks good but I didn't think it was cost that much! Was thinking more along the lines of $1500-2000. How many man hours is it taking to apply the wrap?
most of it is labor, it'd be very hard to wrap those rounded shapes and make it look like it was a proper paint job. perhaps even close to impossible.
Wow, this is certainly dividing opinion. I think that is value for money, who said it wont last? There are a couple of vans running around here that have been wrapped for advertising purposes, one would be at least 2 years old, still looks great. If it gets chipped then that panel can be re wrapped. The price is reasonable considering how easy it is to reverse, painting the car as a colour change will be much more costly than this wrap, like nearly 4 times the cost and then to change back if that is desired that would put it close to 8 times the cost. Then if you respray the car there is a story if you wrap a car its still a story but not one that could be hiding damage. Seems like great value from where I'm sitting.
It isn't comparable to a full repaint as the door jambs and underside of boot and bonnet are not covered. Also, the wrap is pretty much impossible to get into every nook and cranny and therefore the car will look wrapped, not painted when viewed up close. I still like the idea but it is one of those things that you shouldn't try to justify on a price basis, because it will never stack up. You just do it and damn the expense - like most fun ideas!
will definitely let you know. As I said earlier, I had to convince the supplier to go ahead with it - they were quite reluctant. If I pick it up tomorrow, that will be five days. Two people have been working on it, although I don't know if that has been full time or not. C
not exactly sure about a real car, similar trials have been done on my model cars, 1:18 and 1:8 sizes, wraps were printed in carbon fibre patterns and then wraped onto the model cars to achieve that full carbon body look. took about 2 hours for a 1:18 and it was PIA. of course being so small it'd always going to be a PIA but i can imagine on a real car, they won't look that great under close personal inspection. but i could be wrong.
Wow! That settles it then. $500 for wrap and $3300 for the labour to fit it. 2x guys over 5 days seems reasonable.
Rob, you might find a few things on here interesting. Another GT4 for auction too.... http://www.livebidonline.com/catalogues/a336/4.php
