From everything dealers are telling me, all interest stopped 3 weeks ago. First it was sub $200K cars, now it's everything except a few bargain hunters picking up the truly rare. What are you seeing?

I think we are finally into the phase where Dealers are going to get "bitten" for the less than customer service friendly manner that they have treated buyers in the last 8 years. Was that worded diplomatically enough?? (-:

I have always had tremendous service but paid MSRP or worse.

I just love these dealers that talked up how tight they kept the market...now they are all running for the hills...not willing to position ANYTHING. I can't say my rational side blames them but this market wasn't rational to start with (for the last 5 years).

You're not kidding. Ferrari dealers will be begging for sales now, even from the brokers that they once shunned.

The owner of Shelton got out just in time!

I've been out of the market for the past year. I'm looking for the deal of the decade with the cash under my mattress. It's gerat to be in a buyers market.

Now, if the Scuds would just come down.

Too many people scream "the end is near" for it to be really near.
We had so many "ends" that you start to grow a thicker skin after a while.
I'm an optimist,a few down years maybe and soon we'll have another "hot' trend/market or whatever flavor of the day will be...

Yep, working on that right now!

"Each and every day from now until 2023, roughly 10,000 Americans will blow out the candles on their 60th birthday cake. That means four million people a year face impending decisions on whether to stay where they have been earning their livelihood, or to indulge their dreams by moving to their idea of retirement heaven."

A lot of Dealers blew off "LifeTime" customers assigning first delivery to "New Money" customers willing to pad the dealers pocket with "Premium Deposits" for the first 430, 599 or Scud... Leaving the "Life Time" customer (ones who have a strong record of purchasing over their lifetime) waiting in line and pissed off vowing (and I have heard this many times) not to bail the dealer out like they did in the early 80s when the phone calls came in to move unsold inventory!

By neglecting their Financially Stable clients in favor of padding their pockets with money from some kid who struck it rich with his home equity line they have alienated their best customers who are now sitting on the sidelines watching the dealer sweat money as repossessed inventory sits and rots!

And they think its bad now...

    Wait for Winter!!!

Its a BAD BAD time to be in the Luxury business!!

    +1 to all the above.
Had a deposit on a 430, was on the ghost list...after 2 years I realised I WAS NOT IMPORTANT enough (even after I purchased 5 Fcars, never financed one)
Will be glad to be to get a new Fcar when the wheels will be turned...because as they always say:CASH IS KING...

That's what makes a market like the current one so fun. The seller can ask whatever they want, but seeing actual selling prices often tells a very different story.

Now instead of thumbs up I will be getting the finger.

Blatent consumption will be viewed as in bad taste. It is so sad. I'm a car person. I always liked fast cars. My father liked fast cars. One of his recreations was going for a ride - getting in the car and driving for no reason and to go nowhere special.

I was prudent. I saved money, provided for the kids education, lived in a more modest home than we could have had, flew coach. I can afford the car. I enjoy it greatly. Because a lot of overleveraged people are going to be feeling pain or cause innocent people to feel pain, I'm going to be expected to hide my guilty pleasure.

I already had someone pour their coffee on my drivers side mirror while parked. I can't wait for people to start throwing junk at my car on the road

Chicken Little proclamations may be unwelcome (and perhaps even unwise), but...

I don't get the sense people appreciate just how severe the situation in our country is about to become. Between the image of conspicuous consumption and the need to be cash-ready, I think the values of our favorite toys are beginning to descend at a rapid clip. Very simply, the economic and cultural worth of the things we own is changing.

    Cluck-cluck.

On the good side, this will get a lot of the 'brand' people out of the cars and make room for more real 'car' people to own, and hopefully use, them.

Not only will you be viewed in bad taste, but being prudent means you will be expected to pay for others' imprudence! Welcome to the new paridigm where stupidity and incompetence are valued more highly than prudence!
