It's now Singapore weekend and Massa just finished qualifying first and the F1 website writes this: "The Brazilian upped the ante after McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari team mate Kimi Raikkonen had set the fastest times, lapping his F2008 in 1m 44.S. With Hamilton next on 1m 45.465s ahead of Raikkonen on 1m 45.617s, it is probably safe to assume that Massa is running to a lighter fuel strategy."

If LH had been first, do you think they would have said he was on a lighter fuel strategy? Hell no. They would have commented on what a brilliant qualifying session he had.

You are probably correct, but this argument is just not worth the time or energy considering from where the other views come. The race will do the talking.

I agree with you man. I stopped buying some magazines for the same reason. Last issue of Motorsport had a title on its cover reading "King Lewis" and something like "Silverstone one of the most epic wet drives in F1 history"(not an exact quote) I did not even look through the mag. Same on TV and on the F1 website. It makes me sick. I don't find anything wrong with fanatically supporting your team and drivers. However when you publish a magazine which reads "the world oldest racing magazine" under its name you should be a little more unbiased.
I believe Lewis is a great driver with very bright future and F1 needs more like him. But at this point I want him not to win the WDC just so the press (which is almost exclusively British) can STFU.
By the way at the end of quali the team radio with Massa; he was told the lap was excellent, BRILLIANT! I found it pretty funny as this exact phrase was used elsewhere on another thread. Ironic it is commonly associated with Guiness.

"Brilliant" has been a long time colloquial term used by my friends in the south of England, so I assume it is common throughout the UK. Kind of like the over used word "awesome" in the States.

    I much prefer "brilliant".

I kinda had an idea. My point is that Massa takes 3 purple sectors and wins pole from Hamilton in quite a dominating fashion and what comes on the radio from his team is "BRILLIANT !!!"

I believe the guy that said that to Massa, the engineer on the Ferrari team for Massa, is actualy from the UK. Forgot his name.

The best thing that could happen to Lewis Hamilton, is to once again lose the WDC. Upon maturing from this, he will ultimately come back to win the WDC multiple times without the hype and crap he has created this year.

I guess he should call you "Dad" then, huh? Lewis hasn't created the hype, those hack "journalists" are to blame. They hang on every word he says, and try to twist every last one into something provocative. The reason they do this to him, is because he looks different from every other driver before, and he's articulate and determined. The British press/public doesn't give a crap about what some foreign driver, who barely speaks English, has to say. That is unless they do something really out of the ordinary, like say Fred's involvement in the "spy saga" crap. There was similar hype to Jenson, but he never had the car competitive enough to get the kind of press Lewis is, and he wasn't the first of his kind to race at that level either.

    Watch this video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ko94oniszuA

I think this pretty much sums up any criticism you can muster, about his driving. He's a brilliant driver, and anyone with actual racing experience can easily see it. If you have no experience yourself, then you only have to look at how he performs against his teammates, and then go talk to someone who has a lot of racing experience themselves. Mistakes happen, Senna said it himself, it's impossible to get it right 100% of the time. So if you want to pick at China 07, or Canada 08, then I only have to say, look at Fuji 07, Australia 08, Germany 08, and British 08.

To blame the journalists is crap. No one except Hamilton controls what comes out of his mouth. Most of what I have read is actual quotes, nothing twisted. He is no more articulate than most of the F1 drivers. I give more credit to those who base language is not English. And I am not ready to crown Hamilton as anything more than an excellent driver in the best car on the grid. In another year, maybe two, I may feel differently. I have seen one too many young drivers enter the scene, get all sorts of hype, and then fizzle.

I do not understand the "dad" reference. My original post was just a thought about what really may be good for a young man like Hamilton. It was intended to be a positive comment about Hamilton, but somehow you have twisted it just like the journalists that you criticize. So possibly it is you that over reacts to what you read? Get over yourself. Think about what I said. He is young, immature, very talented, and over reactive. When he grows up, he has the potential to be one for the history books. I was being complimetary.

This Hamiltonitis is ridiculous. Acually worse. It is absolute BS.

I think you over exaggerate his immaturity, he wouldn't be leading the WDC if he was as immature as you frequently suggest. If that's the case, then it certainly took your boy Massa a while to "mature". The Dad comment was pointing out how you seem to know what's best for him, and you criticize him, as if you know him. You say that I over react? Excuse me, but that's calling the kettle black. You have an opinion on everything which you wouldn't know anything about. Case in point, Lewis Hamilton. I find it amazing how you can immediatley slam him, or any other driver for that manner, due to somethig you read from Autosport, or even a less reliable source. You seem to enjoy the side commentary and off the track BS better than you do the actual race. If that's the case, you should check out "The View". :)

You do know that www.formula1.com is not www.fia.com

    Just making that clear.

If Bernie and Co are biased good for them, you shouldn't lose sleep over it. They don't need to be non-biased they are looking after their interests and the sponsors. They are not setting the laws.

The remark about journalists are to blame or not. Well that depends on the question asked and how it's worded. Journalists aren't known for asking nice questions all the time, they try to get under your skin try to find some dirt, all drivers/celebs have to deal with it, some better than others. If Lewis is coming out as arrogant with his answers (which he is in some cases) that would be more a personal trait then how mature he is.
