Nope! Luckily, it happened in the driveway, I had a spare, and was back on the road in a couple of hours. Never had this happen before. I've had fingers break, but never the whole spring. Almost missed it. Looked to see if all the fingers were there, they were, and came close to putting it back together!
i know i know, I should be posting in the "dumb questions you were afraid to ask" section but, what is it? Could you describe what your car was doing so that you suspected a problem. What did you do next? How did you just happen to have a replacement. Details are welcome - encouraged. Please forgive my dumb questions. Thanks, Michael Brown
Michael- Not a dumb question. It's a pressure plate for the clutch. I pressed in the clutch to shift gears, and it didn't disengage, so I couldn't shift. I thought it was probably a hydraulic failure in the throwout bearing unit, but there was no fluid leakage apparent. I had a replacement because I sometimes buy parts on ebay for just such occurences. Cheap and effective, that's how a pauper like me can own a Ferrari without spending gazillions every time something goes wrong.

I probably shouldn't tell you this but I changed the brake pads on my Nissan Sentra (well only on one wheel) and ended up (with my wife's input) going to have the "professionals" to finish the other three and check the work that was done by me. Mine was fine but it was probably a good idea to listen to my wife. Everyone has there own talents. Anyway, good luck and I am happy that you could fix the problem. No, I swear! I was shifiting at under 2500 rpm, my absolute maximum. I never run the motor over 3200, as I'm afraid it'll blow up! Anyway, wouldn't that be abuse? Heck, I've got to save the car for the next owner and preserve my resale value!
