which CV joint should see more wear . .inner or outer?

    absolutely .. just analyzing what I'm destroying.. which is apparently nothing so far :) .. that's why the one pic of the shiney outer wear really "got me off" . . . personal thing I know.

    So are CV joints replaced when they "clunk" or replaced when you see the metal pick up on the star???? .. or do you not take 'em apart to repack 'em when you do it for a living? ... just curious . .. I know I need a life.

    BTW . . . we're talking about my '81 308 that has

    my EFI
    11.8:1 compression
    big swaybars
    QA1's
    fast window motors :)
    a good driver at the helm :)

    just looking for weak links . . I have a 911 race car that I'm trying to make my 308 hang with . . just sharing what I see.

    On the off road cars the CV's take a beating. If they " clunk", we just replace them. They are cheap enough to not mess around with repairing. Your right on the torn boot part. If they run dry they will self destruct very fast.
