    I happen to "know the source and his experiance level" and that is the sole reason I said to follow it up.

    One could predict the rest of this. Take the time to follow it up and PM me if you would rather. I think Steve made a very good point and with your background you are far more than qualified to find the answers.

    At first I thought they had to be dragging, what else would cause so much heat to ignite them but then I remembered who was saying this and discounted the dragging thoughts.

    Without stirring things up lets say they were dragging (and I don’t believe they were) there is still no reason they should have ignited. I had front calipers lock up on 2 different Ford products and the wheel go so hot I could feel the heat when I got out of the drivers door and it was a passenger front in both cases and still no fire.

    I’m just a shade tree mechanic and IMO there had to be something wrong with the formulation of the pads, as I see it that’s the only way they would ignite.
