It was supposedly sent to a Chinese dealership. That's why it's in English. After seeing the actual letter, however, I have no doubts it's fake. From what I understand the Veyron is a pig (very heavy and not exactly a track car)...one that is fast in a straight line albeit. Horsepower is a relative value. What counts is the power to weight ratio. Straight line acceleration is only one ingredient. I doubt the upcoming 1300bhp Veyron will trouble Ferrari's next supercar on a track.
The Enzo has the Veyron in check on track already.I know about the whole power to weight,as I am an F1 nut,and track balance is top priority for me.But still,we're champs on track so why not make the "F60" with all superlatives.
The main thing to know about the automotive industry is to never believe anything you hear without a direct quotable artical from an official or some really damn good pictures. My eyebrow is still raised. _J
Starting this thread as I know it has been built, all the legals are being sorted, DOT regulation requirement, EURO status, crach testing ect. I know minor details, but nothing hard. Shall we see if we can come together with all our knowledge to build the car mentally before Ferrari release it. What I know 3.5l V8 BiTurbo, very lightweight... Not much, but I have also seen the F430 replacment, also fitted with the same engine, just not TT. Interesting eh? Mike EDIT: Oh, release late 2009
You know this? I guess your sources must be better than mine. My sources, and I spoke to them this weekend tell me that none of what you posted is true.
Hmm .. I'm pretty new to this forum, but I think I would trust Napolis and his sources .... as long as he is willing to share it.
I'm hoping for a lightweight (less then 3000 pounds), intercooled twin turbocharged V8. ....reminds me of another iconic supercar....
Whoops, looks like I have upset someone. I retract all previous statments, I fully express full knowledge that the information I provided, is, to the best of my knowledge, at best, unconfirmed roumors. Best Michael James
My well placed sources (independent of those Napolis referred to) also lead me to believe this is all BS...
It is total BS. The Enzo replacement is years away. Years. The posts on the 430's replacement's engine are also wrong. It is not 3.5L.
Be sure Napolis. I may have the capacity wrong, forgive me, but I am 100% confident of the rest. Mike James
So the 430 and Enzo replacements will both have the same 3.5l engine? I'll believe it when I see it...
It wouldn't be too difficult to forge such a document for one's own amusement. I have a hard time believing Ferrari is interested in a turbo road car as the next top dog, a large NA V-12 is the usual weapon of choice. I have consistently heard that the next hyper car will be very light however, which is very exciting, because light weight solves most all problems. If they go with a somewhat smaller V-12 a la the F50, they had best make the car VERY light and have the V-12 rev like there is no tomorrow. I can hardly imagine how deadly the F1 shift and launch control will be by the time the "F70" comes out!
Also very interesting is the fact, that they state 50ms shift time for a double clutch transmission. IIRC correctly the gearbox in the Scud takes 60ms to shift (in any direction) and is quite a bit lighter (close to half) than DSG boxes. I already enjoy 8ms upshift times on my cheapo VW GTI (Yeah, I know unexpected downshifts can take forever) And why would LdM write a letter to the research department that has all the information in it? Is he reminding the research department?
