Anybody want to take bets on how long til Shinkaze' GTR goes in for a needed transmission replacement?

Will he cry to Nissan and say "But I'm proving the internets wrong that your car is great!" rather then void the warranty?

I'm betting its within the first 12,000 miles..... or the 6th track-abuse event.

agree it would be a great car for sprint events but any long distance events i dont think it would cut the mustard................and come to think of it ive never seen any1 drive it straight for more than 2 seconds , all that stress is going to cost them big $$$$ in the end

nthfinity must prefer garage trophies to track cars.

At least now one of us in this thread is no longer bench racing and now has comparative track experience with the Porsche and GT-R.

At one time, I was arranging for a GTR to show up for a comparison event at the end of the month, but it's simply not fast enough. 530 hp seems to be the cut off point right now.

If that is what you are calling garage trophies, that is fine by me.

Also, I'm convinced you don't prefer track cars either... but "time attack" cars. That is all the GTR is; even with its sticky rubber.

not sure what relevance what you wish you could do has on this discussion.

I'm saying that someone reading your (flamebait) comment about the condition of my transmission, would assume you prefer garage queens that only have miles to and from Starbucks.

Not saying that's wrong if that's how you enjoy your cars, but I personally enjoy driving them hard, and prefer to drive cars hard at the track. If you have a problem with that, then that's fine, but making immature jabs about "crying to Nissan" only degrades any constructive conversation that might still be had.

I was hopping that given SOMEONE on this thread has finally taken the offending car to the track you would want to learn more....shrug...

For the record, my GT-R is just one of my commuter cars. It may see at most 6 or 7 track events in the next 12 months, so hardly a dedicated track car. Actually, my Sportbike is the real track toy. (and much faster than the GT-R). I am by no means a professional driver, nor do I pretend to be. But I do have some real world perspective on what the GT-R (and 997/996 for that matter) can do at the track that is otherwise missing here....I don't know, maybe that disqualifies me from your bench race?

A GTR wouldn't be hard to get. We discussed using one for the said event; but it really would be more of a waste of time then anything. Some of the cars aren't anywhere near easy to get.

No, I was referring to the page in the owners manual that looks like it's for oil changes, but is for transmissions. Subtle jab at Nissan. Not you.
I Prefer cars that can last full sessions in the summer heat. But that is just me.

But we've already made up our minds on the GTR ;) So have other reputable sources.
I always had a thing for the RC45, NR750, and Britten V1000 myself. Tough bikes to find.

If we had chosen to compare a GTR, and your GTR was the easiest to get to our event, then I would gladly invite you. Real life is much more fun then the intardweb :) I'm sure you'd agree.
