Hi all........ Our Regional Concourse is 8 days away so I've been polishing the tripe out of my car all week. The undercarriage was my focus today even though I doubt the judges worry too much about that. I was keen to get inside the guards and give the brakes, suspension and wheels a really good clean. Well, as you can see by my pics below tidying up 20 years of brake dust on the inside of the wheels was quite a challenge. I spent 6 hours all up on the car today and I reckon 4 of that was just on the wheels. I'm thrilled that it's done as maintaining them is not too hard. I was about to suggest using brake cleaner for the hard to get areas but that might remove paint, you may want to look into a pressure washer also.
I used kerosene and a toothbrush to remove all the tar from within the wheel. My fingers are still sore......... Bob.

I've watched and taped EVERY Bathurst 1000 since 1979 but unfortunately the pace car has killed it for me. I'll record it but honestly it's not the race it was back in the '80's with Group C or Group A regulations. Cheers, Bob.
I've had very good luck with full-strength Simple Green, liberally applied and left to soak overnight. Outstanding job on the wheels. Best of luck at the concourse. Living in Sydney, I can think of a worse detailing job - stepping barefoot on a male Sydney Funnel Web spider while not watching what you're doing.
Yes, I do live in Sydney but believe it or not, I don't think I've ever seen one in a garden. I've seen a few in jars and stuff but fortunately never encountered one live. I've caught a few Huntsmans (pictured below) that look similar just bigger but not venomous. I hate spiders. The only good spider is a dead spider! Bob. Image Unavailable, Please Login

IMO, you have the 2 perfect cars in that garage. (Well, if only it were a GT4...) I used to own a '95 M3 and it was one of the best cars I"ve ever owned, period! I'd love to find a low mileage one, but they just don't exist. Next time you have to do wheels like that, use P21S. It will take most all of it right off. Beware though...you have to rinse with LOTS of water! JIM
Thanks Jim, I have just bought the P21S 100% wax to use on the Ferrari, first time I've even heard of the brand. The M3 and the 328 are a great duo. The 328 is not the easiest car to drive compared to a more mainstream daily yet the M3 is a classic. It does EVERYTHING better than the Ferrari but simply doesn't have the presence or WOW factor about it. The Ferrari is like an expensive bottle of wine that you savour on special occasions and only gets better with age. The BMW is an outstanding performer that a learner to drive. My only criticism of the M3 is it's almost too good. By that I mean it's too much of a daily even though I don't use it for that. I recently went to a Porsche Concourse and really have the bug to get a '88-'89 3.2 Carrera with the whale tail. I will need to sell the M3 to get it and that won't be happening for at least 2 years but the Porsche is the only car I really want before I start pushing up daisies...... LOL. I'm curious to see what you guys (Americans) think of my daily driver. It's a Holden Commodore Station wagon. Translated, it's a 6 cylinder Pontiac GTO wagon. Thoughts? Bob. Wagon is sweet. I am just donating my 1995 525iT to charity and saw some of those that were really hooked up to look nice too, but I used mine as a beater (especially later in it's life) so I didn't spend much money on it. My daily is a 97M3/4, so now that I got my 348 SS back from CA, I will have to take a few pics of them together to show off to you guys. How does the wagon handle? MB
It stock form, like a bus........ but I have put sports suspension kit through her. (Front and rear sway bars, struts, shocks and springs). It now is very good. The back of the spokes on my '88 don't have that recessed section, they are just flat. Mabe a euro thing.Good luck with the show. Post some pics.
