    Mike,
unfortunately I have nothing about your car. From whom and where did you buy it in 1988?

    Ciao!

    Walter...

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner...

Here is what I have on AM109.102 ....

The date of the document is July 13, 1964..This
indicates the car was probably built in 1964...

This part of the document is in Italian...

    1 AUTOVETTURA 3700/GTI GRAN TURISMO MODELLO 109
no. 109.102 di motore e telaio - Carrozzata 2 posti coupe'

Verniciatura color Celeste Chiaro Lancia 16.300
    Interno pelle neutra PAC 1544
    Teppeti Kaukas Creme 31

Completa di no. 5 route a raggi gommate e borsa attrezzi.

    Radio Autovox
    Antenna automatica
    Cinghie di sicurezza
    sedili ribaltabili

The destination for the car was: HOFFMAN MOTORS CORPORATION, 443 Park Avenue, New York, NY

There is some indication the car was transported by Ship via Los Angeles...

At any rate, I purchased the car in 1997 from an exotic car dealer in Sarasota, FL.. The owner of the
    the place was Martin Godby...

    Anyway, that's what I have...Hope it's of use...

    Walter...

I was just thinking that I believe you and I met once...

Perhaps you remember, but you, Seymour Pond, and I had
dinner together in New York.. Seymour and I picked you up
at your hotel in Seymour's Biturbo Spyder... You hopped in
the back and off we went... I think this was in 1997 or 1998..

So many Maserati owners to meet, so little time!

    Mike,
I member that evening very well.

I was for a fashion-shoot in NYC and you and Seymour picked me up from the hotel with his Spyder. Driving with open hood in the warm late summer night thru the Big Apple was veeeeery special!

    Ciao!

I know the family who owns 5000gt #006 was in the process of restoring a Mistral a few years back. I never knew if it had completed yet or the history on the car. I remember the last time I saw it was just back from the paint shop and the work performed was magnificent. Anyone know the status of this car?

Thanks Walter and Jeff i thought it was some Lancia lights. But i have seen a Ghibli spider with 365gt 2+2 back lights so i was not certain. Could it come out from the Maserati plant with Lancia Fulvia lights Walter or Jeff?

    Magbus,
I believe this was an after-market modification many years ago.

It's an interesting coincidence that both the Mistral and the Fulvia (Berlina) made their debut at the 1963 Torino Show, but I find it hard to believe that a Mistral ever came equipped from the factory with these tail lights.

Sorry it was not that light blue Ghibli spider it was an Indy.It is in Richard Crumps and Rob de la Rive Box book on page 164.I don't know if it is 365gt 2+2 lights but it's not the same as i have. Could some cars for the USA market have different lights?

Thank you Jeff i agree with you. I have never seen a Mistral before with these lights. Is it difficult to find the right lights? How many Mistrals have you seen?

Spent most of the day hanging out with a Mistral spyder. Looks a bit like #109 earlier in the thread. Drove around (in another car) for some of the day and will see it tomorrow and Sunday. Also expecting a Sebring and a 450 S. Probably a few others. :) Will post pictures in a few days.

I bought the car from Corley Motors in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan acting on behalf of the owner, Harvey Gordon, 5671 Shadow Road, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan in 1989. The factory build sheet shows that it was first sold to Mr. Fielding Lewis Holmes of St. Louis, Missouri. The build date is 19/10/66

Listed below is the information on the factory build sheet:

Autovettura Maserati Gran Turismo 2 Posti 4000 Coupe
    Carrozzata 2 posti-Telaio e motore no. 109.A1.1028
Verniciatura color Rosso Rubino Chiaro 106 R 12
    Interno pelle Senape Pac 1775
    Tappeti in Tinta
Completa di No. 5 ruote gommate e borsa attrezzi

    Accessori: Ponte autobloccante
    Radio Blaupunkt
    Aria condizionata
    Sedili posteriori

I understand most of the build sheet but I am not sure what Ponte auotbloccante and Sedili posteriori mean. Can someone enlighten me? Any additional information that can be supplied about my Mistral would certainly be appreciated.

The air conditioning unit had disappeared when I purchased the car along with the condenser in front of the radiator as well as the compressor, compressor bracket and the air conditioning hoses. I have source what appears to be a correct under dash air conditioning unit, actually I have two of them, and the correct compressor and compressor bracket, two of these also, one of one style and one of the alternate style. The hoses will pose a problem as I have not been able to find a correct match that will permit using R 134 coolant. Does anyone know of the correct looking hose material that will permit using R 134 coolant? Restoration of the Mistral will begin next year and it will be a total concours restoration but I think I want to change the color from the original to Nero with a Nero interior. I'm sure that my choice of colors will be commented on. Walter, I am coming to Berlin on April 22nd to visit with Hans Doll. Any chance of treating you to lunch?

Unfortunately, my girlfriend and I are heading off to Paris from Berlin but I'll make arrangements the next time to catch up with you. Do you plan on coming to the States for any of the car shows this year?

Were you able to verify if the Mistral was indeed #109? I use to own #109 about 7 years ago. Looked very much like it does on the photo you posted.
