The easiest way to determine if a 348 has the 2.5 vs. 2.7 system is to visually inspect the vehicle as having either single or dual TPS (throttle position sensors, sometimes called throttle potentiometers). 2.5 has one TPS on the 1/4 bank (right side) throttle body. The 2.7 system has a TPS on each throttle body. I have taken Richard's engine bay picture and circled the TPS units below.

The main benefits of the 2.7 system is the ability to read engine error codes and chip tune the ECU's. While the 2.5 is programmable, there is a lot of research being done by Fchatters on programming the 2.7 system so there is a growing knowledge base on the subject. While there are other benefits to the 2.7 system, just those two make it more desirable IMHO.

The 2.5 system was used up to early 1990 builds. I'm not aware of the VIN break, but again it is quite easy to identify which system the car has. Back on topic: Richard's 348 looks great, and the asking price with a fresh major looks like a fair deal to me. Good luck with the sale Richard - some updated engine bay pics post-major might be helpful.

I'd avoid Symbolic - bad stories. They have ethics issues. Make sure if you use them that you insist on documentation and have money in escrow that you can get back if a deal goes south. I'm not saying more.

Boy the market has dried up tighter than a drum. Nothing is selling. You need cash buyers because banks are not lending squat. Sellers still think all cars have more value than is really there. For 2 yrs ago Huskers deal was pretty low. For today that could be an asking price. The real test of the market is what you could sell the car for right now this hour. It will kill you to find out how low that really is. Really high end cars like vintage 250's are not really effected because the people with real money still have real money. Lots of middle/upper middle income earners are killed by stock market 40% values lost since Jan 08. They either have no money or are hording it. I really hope you can sell it and prove me wrong.

Deposits are *surging* into banks right now from people liquidating everything that will sell. Everyone wants ca$h right now. Pure cash. There are even educated, mature people walking out of local banks with 6 and 7 figures in cash, headed for their safes as if cash in the bank wasn't good enough for them.

I kid you not, I'm seeing it firsthand.

    Just sayin...

Who says banks are not lending $$$ ? Of course they are. Just not to buyers with low credit scores and bad credit I assure you that if you have a 700+ score you will still find plenty of loans.

I'm still selling a few cars per week at Sports Car Company. This car is mine and I'm sure it will sell at some point. Your right though. It's getting harder to find those buyers.
