More bands: What Popular Bands Do You NOT Like?

Come to think of it, like Springsteen, I cannot understand half of what Bono is singing.

I can, at best, tolerate U2.

 

How can you hate U2??? Granted they changed thier style after The Joshua Tree, but I like their old stuff just as much as their new stuff. Oh and how can you hate Coldplay, let me guess you don't like R.E.M. either?

I use to love Metallica but ever since St. Anger they have sucked big donkey balls, and thier new album is horrible too. Oh I can't stand rap of any kind. Even big will smith. Get Jiggy wid it

 

I use "hate" loosely. I don't, rather can't really hate them. Hates a really strong word. I just don't like them.

I really can't put my finger on it, but I just don't like their sound or his voice. And his stupid glasses.

 

No I LOVE U2 and Coldplay!!! I was making fun of the other users cause they don't like them. I am a huge fan of both bands!

As with film, which evolved from Silence and Motion, there are certain things where less is more. Save for Mick, who needs to stop shouting, no male should dance around while they're lip-synching or shouting/singing. White people should not have dreadlocks or cornrows, so, whoever they are, stop them, take away their guitars, straighten out their hair, cut where necessary and hand them each a broom. Whiny boys wearing makeup need to stop wearing girl pants, especially petites. If they want to attract boys, just go to wherever it is boys seeking boys go. Marilyn Manson, please, shoot him in whichever eye you please, then, do the same from the backside towards the remaining eyeball - otherwise, the whole point of a double-barreled, sawed-off shotgun is lost on yet another generation. Most female performers should only be bouncing/gyrating on DVD. Silent DVDs.

 

Wow! Not a lot of DMB fans here. Well, I guess there's really no middle ground. You either love 'em or hate 'em.

If you're not a fan, go to a concert anyway and bring earplugs if you need them. There's consistently, by far, more hot chicks at a DMB show than any other show I've been to.

 

I'm 40.

As a kid i heard led zep, jimi, Pink Floyd etc. 35 years later their still playing the same songs on the radio. I can't believe people still are like "turn it up" when Pink Floyd's "money" or Led Zep's "misty mountain hop" comes on the radio. Nothing against any of those bands but i've heard all those classic rock songs so many times i can't listen to 'em anymore..haven't for almost two decades.

As a kid in DC (DC 101) i used to listen to the radio personality known as the GREASEMAN and that was the last time i really listened to classic rock. What's funny is the Greaseman is back on the radio here in Florida and i'm listening to the same skits and same songs played on his show as i did 28 years ago.

Yesterday i listened to a skit i recognized from 6th grade then Aldo Nova's "life is just a fantasy" kicked in and it was like no time had passed.

 

Any manufactured pop music.

There's a lot of bands I don't like. But as long as the members colabrated and made the music themself, I have to respect that. But all this crap like Justin Timberlake, Ashley Simpson, Spice Girls, Danity Kane and the like, is pure ****.

 

Out of what you listed, I wouldn't put Timberlake with any of those untalented baboons.

I'm not a fan of Timberlake, but he is definitely talented in his own right.

 

old thread, i know, but coldplay? one of the most amazing bands to see live of all time. i am a huge music fan, listen to it religiously.

and u2, are you serious? they will do down as the greatest band of all time. how can they be around and THAT big for 3 decades + and you think they suck? i can them not being your taste, but to say they suck is pure stupidity.

country - really? besides the hot girls these guys get, what is country all about? oh yeah, carrie underwood, i forgot. yummy!

I think U2 and Coldplay suck...I understand millions love them...I cant hear it. Both their voices cause a piercing pain in my skull.

So when someone says 'suck' I think it means to them...not in an absolute sense.

 

Tool and Nickleback are HORRIBLE.

Like U2 (Bono's politics get in the way of liking the music sometimes)

Hate Bruce Springstein and his fake accent and sucky songs.

Jack Johnson could fall asleep while singing his own music i believe..hate him.

oh my, forgot jack johnson, that guy drives me nuts! i tried, i tried very hard to like him, can't do it. you know who i DO like, ben harper, great music if you're in the right mood. saw them live a few times, very good show.

I like pretty much anything but I really don't like Aerosmith. I also think MAtellica has gone way down hill over the past few years.

 

Dude you have GREAT taste, they are pretty much the only people I listen to now.

 

good to see people who have great taste in cars can also have great taste in music... at least a few of you .... my favorite bands i listen to right now, in order somewhat....

coldplay (seeing them in atlanta on nov. 11, floor seats, could not be more excited)
john mayer (don't like him as a person per se, kind of a pansy, but his music and talents rank among some of the best of all time, from pure music lover's perspective, i met him years and years ago and liked him a lot then, was a pretty down to earth guy, changed since then)
howie day (brilliant live and solo)

ben harper
dave matthews (i know, sorry, used to be really big into these guys)
ryan adams
jeff buckley (some of the most brilliant songs of all time, just love some and don't like some)

 

Tool is amazing. I've seen them live twice and have been amazed both times. I understand that there sound is not everyones cup of tea but they are VERY good musicians and the sound they produce together is unique.

 

Just can't get into them. U2 and Coldplay just don't do anything for me. I like music that get's my excited weather it be phyiscal or emotional (or both).

I have a similar sensation. Although it happens worse when I hear a U2 song, than Coldplay. I have a similar pain when I hear The Beastie Boys. Terrible terrible terrible and repeatative.

I can understand people not liking Tool. But for me it's their different sound that I like. Whether it's their first album or their most recent album, they have a sound that's timeless, imo.

I think taste is what it comes down to. I can appreciate that you enjoy coldplay, U2 and the like. I can't stand them. Therefore, I think they suck. I'm not sure how that is pure stupidity. Madonna has been around forever, and she's pretty big as well. I think she sucks too.

Similarly, I love TOOL, Rage Against the Machine etc. I'm pretty sure they suck to a lot of people, but here's the thing. Don't like them? I don't care, I'm the one listening to them, not anyone else.
Different strokes for different folks. I don't understand why some people assume that their choices are better than anyone who disagrees with them.
