I was just looking at the pics of RossaCorsaItaly's spider he posted. Why do some F355 spiders have the side fender badges and some don't?

The "Scuderia Shields" were an option from the factory.

There are aftermarket ones out there, but I haven't seen any that look as good as the original from the factory.

The badges were offered as an option. It is my understanding that the badging was originally reserved for competition cars. The badges became a popular "add-on" available through after market suppliers. Most models (modern?) offered by Ferrari had the fenders "embossed" for the badge and is actually bolted through the frame. After market ones are of the adhesive type. This may be over simplified but generally true.

They were reserved for comp cars and standard on limited prod. cars, 288,F40, F50, Enzo.... They became an option in the '90's and were standard on the 355 Fiorano spider... The fenders are factory embossed and are a different part #.

I believe it was in 1998, that a bunch of new options became available for the 355. The fender badges was one of them. Many folks will add the badges on to later cars, but will not have the indented fenders, so the stick out a bit more from the surface. One way around that, is to purchase these specially made badges that are much thinner than the factory ones.

If you ask, I think he still gives a 15% (or something) discount to fchatters. I have have these on my 355 and really like them.

A good body shop can modify your non-badge fenders to look just like badge fenders.
