Speculation of whats to come? And for the speculation of this thread...

If I woke up this morning, saw your post, and had been seriously looking for a 599 with the bank trail to match... I'd still wait a week just to see where this is going. Why? I have all the time in the world, and I know these savings will only increase.

$260k right now is a deal but only compared to the history of yesterday. See what happens tomorrow.

By xmass they will wrap 'em up and put them on a raffle, lol. Everybody should wait a couple of months and save an extra $15k.

Just in case this is information is true as I just remembered that a friend told me that he knows of a 2005 F430 for sale at $145k, and the car had no damage and less than 2k miles.

The economic rot has already occurred. If elected, Obama wouldn't take office till January, by which time he'll inherit a socialized banking industry -- the rubble of the trickle-down era.

I concur. I wouldn't put money in a modern Ferrari right now.

Hell no. Not if Napolis sees a 250K GTO in my future!

Can I be a maverick too?
What a thing to go around telling people. lol
    I'm a maverick.
Yeayh right, maverick dickhead would be the response I'd get around folks here in my home town.
Had enough change for one month too.
A changeable GTO driving maverick. What a great mid life crisis to have. I feel empowered already.

    Jim,

Sorry to go OT on you
But saw you on the show regarding the AutoUnion and the Superfast.

Who bought the AutoUnion? Don't know how current the show was and didn't see the end.

It was withdrawn from the auction as it seems it's history was not as represented. Never sold so far as I know.

(The 250K GTO is a 288 GTO. The 3.5 million one is the 250 GTO.)

Throughout the 90's Harley dramatically increased their production numbers. People say Ferrari has overproduced their cars, going from 4000 to 6000 or so per year so a 50% increase.

The first year H-D made 100,000 bikes was 1993, and in 2007 they made nearly 400,000, a 400% increase. Harley and basically all Euro brands have grown over the motorcycle boom of the last 15 years. All the "luxury" bike makers are in for a tough road ahead. I know the newer of my Ducatis has dropped in price severely over the last two years.

Everything luxury is going to be a difficult sell for some time. The only thing might hang on would be the small luxuries that people can buy without guilt. If you cannot afford a $170k 430, or even a $22k Softtail Springer, at least you can spring for a spa treatment this month that will make you feel almost as special w/o worrying about financial ruin.

Yes, it is a new market segment for Ferrari and will serve a bigger market worldwide but you really have to wonder if it will really sell . . .

Expanding sales to 10K cars a year is really tough to justify right now considering the world economy!

The California will sell, but probably not at the speculative levels of the 360, F430 and 599. I think the world can absorb 10,000 Ferraris. Not sure whether it makes me happy, but I like the old stuff anyway.

As posted above, the hysteria over the F430 and 599 was driven by the opportunity to drive a Ferrari for free, or flip it and make a few bucks. I have a friend in San Diego who canceled his F430 order when it became apparent earlier this year that he wouldn't be able to make money on the car. Now he's on the California list, but -- I'll bet he demurs on that one, too.
