So you really don't have to worry about lodging and you more than likely won't have to worry about food ....what gives?????
(that was all said in humor, I'm quite similar whenever I feel that something is over-priced w/o reason. . .)
Try Kayak - you can check when the busy dates are and fly on other dates.[/QUOTE] You want him to row to the UK?!?
Anthony, if you have heard the news about Zoom today you might be pleased you didnt follow my advice. They have gone bust leaving numerous people stranded.
As a further (somewhat depressing) comment, I've been doing the SFO -> LHR run for many, many years. Plus I've been bringing the kids backwards and forwards over that same timeframe. In my experience, these "cheap advertised" flights look good, until you try and actually book it - Then it turns out they're only available in a month beginning with "B" or it's only one seat, that's already been sold.... The good news is that, now they've had their wrists slapped, (I was invited into the class action suit against 'em) Virgin & BA tend to keep each other somewhat honest. BA's site at least will allow a pretty flexible search, if you can be flexible on dates. You can sometimes save some $ by going thru' Miami, NYC or Chicago (etc) - But it's a PITA, especially if the first flight gets delayed..... Plus, you've got to pay the friggin' "taxes, security charges, landing fees" etc (basically) twice, and those #'s are very often not included until the very last step of your booking..... My advice? - Suck it up on one of the major carriers (I've always been a BA man FWIW) and "pay the ferryman!". Move on. Cheers, Ian
Hey Antony! Take a look... They're coming down. I'd check it out to see what a flight from L.A. would be.
I would never use ANY second party service to book an airfare, hotel or rental car because when you have problems (and you will, especially when you need to make itinary changes), the airlines, hotel and rental car companies will all tell you to take the problem to the company that you booked the reservation though. Ever tried getting ahold of a real live person from an internet site you did your booking with? What a freaking joke!
Do you have any miles/points from credit cards or other programs? I usually convert my amex points to Virgin Atlantic miles when I fly to LHR. I just checked, from LAX in coach it is 37,500 miles/points (worth roughly $375) and $500 in fees for travel around Christmas. Even if it doesn't work out for this trip it might be something to look into the future.
Luftansa ONE DAY SALE. I.E. you must book today. http://www.lufthansa.com/online/portal/lh/us/specials/booking?l=en&specialid=6685&nodeid=2075399
Travelzoo isn't a second party booking system. They just gather the top bargains and provide them in a list to Travelzoo members. You book directly through the airline or hotel.
That's perfect for Antony. Very good cheap deal. Antony, try the travel section on Fatwallet.com and Slickdeals.net
I appreciate the help! I went through it and of course, hidden cost - 1300 for a flight. I may have to hold off for a bit based on a product launch for work. I assume they will come down based on oil cost, right? Antony
