Me, my wife, a red TR3, and a beautiful fall Saturday along the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia. A very nice way to spend a weekend!

edit: and one of me and my dad....great taking a ride with him too! After all, it is his fault I am into British cars (and sports cars in general). His first car when he graduated college was an MGB. When it was time for my first car, he made sure it was an MGB. The rest is history!

Great car, and a great place to enjoy it!
How is the mechanical reliability of the TR3? I have always liked the look and size of that car.

It is the most basic sports car. Essentially a 4-cylinder tractor engine, 4-speed gearbox, live axle, minimal electrical system (mechanical fuel pump).

Fit and finish was never very good (restored cars are frequently better than new) and the body is prone to rust, but if you find a good one it's great fun.

Sorry Joe, it's not like a tractor is a bad thing.

The TR3 uses an engine similar to the one in a Ferguson Tractor.

True, plus in the TR2, the Vanguard, 1800/2000 roadsters and the Atlas. The problem has become that everyone now thinks it was the same engine they dumped in the tractor! The tractor engine was used as the engineering basis for the sports car engines was not dumped straight into the sports cars! (Although I believe they did use is the saloons and vans.)

But the good thing is that basis formed such a robust little engine you damn well can't destroy the things unless you do something really dumb.

Thanks. Don't feel so bad about not knowing what they were, given what they are. If you get what I mean.
