Despite being a biased bystander (mine is the Silver GT-R), I have to say the 997 GT-Street wasn't quite performing up to it's full potential. With a good set of tires it would have done better. However, working in Porsche's favor, Samuel Hubinette had never driven a GT-R before that day either. In total he only had 8 hot laps in a GT-R (4 in my stock GT-R, and 4 in COBB Tunning's), yet despite this he put down a 1:30! To put that into perspective, earlier that year, Road and Track did a 1:33.5 in a 997 GT2 (1.4 Seconds per mile faster!). I can't tell you the stock GT-R times until that show comes out, but I can say it's an even more impressive difference than the difference between the Nur times (7:29 for GT-R and 7:34 997 GT2 =.38 seconds/mile)

With better rubber, the GT-Street should have been closer to the GT2 times....but as the announcer said, it's run what you brung, and Claus didn't bring decent tires!! (must have worn them out on Bullrun!)

The GT-Street is amazing in person. Looks just crazy going around the track. Without the wrap, the car still looks ferocious.

Thanks, I personally like it a lot, but some do not. No issue with that, it's a very unabashingly Japanese design, with a lot of three dimensional details that do not translate well into photography. the car looks much better in person.

It really does look good in person. I was astonished when I saw one the other day. Nothing like the ones in the magazines.

I have a Nissan Titan that I tow my toys with, Its the first Nissan I ever purchased, I did that back in 04 and it out performs every other truck in its category. It tows better than the 3 one ton duallys I owned before it. While it wont tow the weight that they would it does a better job towing the loads I put behind it. I am not surprised by the GT-R's capabilities. I would love to buy one. Nissan is having issues with the gearbox and two of the guys that paid big premiums for them here in Michigan for the privilege to be the first to have one, have both had problems already. One had to have the twin disc clutch replaced, the other had to have both the clutch and the gearbox replaced. Both used launch control and after about 3 times of doing that had trans problems.

I hope Nissan can get that issue resolved. If they do, that car will move to the top of my list of cars I want in my garage. I am not a huge fan of its looks, to G35 ish, but I totally love the performance numbers the car is capable of putting down. Very impressive.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Cobb car was set up for that track. I've seen that car at Willow springs the last 2 times I've been there.

Dishonest people like you are the reason that other peoples' insurance rates are so high.I think that I read on here that your 15. I would not be surprised if you would illegally operate a motor vehicle without a driver’s license. Do you realize if you kill some one on the road you will ruin your parents lives

I talked to them about that, and they said they were having difficulty with Turn 8 (who doesn't?) but the biggest problem is that no one makes a decent 20" R-Compound tire, so they dropped down to a narrower 18" Apparently there is a bracket on the strut that makes it so you have to go narrower as you step down in size. Tre mentioned that Toyo was working on a solution that will debut at SEMA next week. When all is said and done though, the modifications to the COBB car vs mine where very light. Tires/Rims, Tune, Exhaust. They had kept the stock caliper but where using a cryo'ed caliper as the stock ones are warp prone.
