In other words, lesser governments are willing to pay money for the privilege of hosting an F1 race, without some greedy intermediary who expects to make something off of the work involved. I guess we should have that on the ballot in November. Screw the national defense, I want the government to step up and fund F1! Statements like these make me inclined to not even watch F1 on TV. I think I will move to bootleg downloads.

Screw F1. I have about had it with all the antics. Being a Barrichello fan, I almost puked when Ferrari made him pull over to let Schumi win in Austria years ago, and have never felt the same about F1 since.

We supported and attended the USGP but now in a way I am glad it is gone for a while. They will bring it back so everyone can relax. It may be gone for 5 or even 10 years, but someone will step in to fix this mess, maybe our government should take our tax money that the arse-holes from AIG used at the spa in CA and start a "bring F1 back to North America" fund. Our friends to the north can have a donation plate passed around at hockey games this winter - LMAO!!!

Whatever, now that Indy is getting back to racing on some road courses, we have that along with ALMS to keep us happy over here.

So not only is the Canadian GP dead this year it seems F1 won't be returning there at ALL. :( Such a travesty. It really was one of the best races on the calendar.

    Seriously?

I realize it was one of the best races for the audience because Montreal knows how to party and it is "our" GP here in North America. But from a purely racing perspective I never thought much of it: It is very tight, few interesting corners (ok the hairpin is awesome) and technically kinda simple once you know how to cool/manage your brakes. Also no elevation changes and few run off areas.

Don't get me wrong, I miss it already, but I never thought it was "one of the best races".

All valid points. But, for some reason it always has had a lot of surprises. There's three solid over taking areas, 1) into the hairpin 2) coming off that straight into the chicane with the wall of champions 3) then from there into turn one. That's three times as many as any of the new tracks. ;) It not only looks good from a spectator’s perspective but also on TV. While it is a fairly simple track if you get it wrong the penalties are usually large due to no run off areas. That also has caused quite a few SC incidents over the last couple of seasons.

Looks like the French may be dropping out of their GP leaving a date open in June due to the economic conditions. Like a said last week, if the economy gets worse there will be more GPs falling by the wayside and Bernie will be begging tracks and countries to host. Maybe the Canadaina GP will be back on.

The French did that out of solidarity with its former colony. :)

A friend of mine who has a PS3 said the track is described as a "boring track with a series of uninspired turns".

Personally I like the track but I also like Monaco, the old Hockenhiem, Magny Coors and Melbourne.

The track itself is uninspiring, I agree. Although for some reason, there is always unexpected things happening at the Canadian GP. You never know who's going to win or podium, and there is usually lot's of attrition. Races like this are better for putting on a show for the fans, rather than a processional, pole to win parade.
