Yes Marcello, it is possible. Cylinders, pistons, rods can be replaced by Countach ones, balancing crankshaft, enlarging valves port, replacing all valves & camshafts + polishing, increasing oil pressure, new 45 Webers + much much work to do all this. I know already 2x people able to do this, the well famous Edmond Ciclet and of course my own mechanic... But it doesn't worth to do all this on a Jarama GT or GTS. Reason is the weight...Belgian Control Technic had checked my GTS weight : 1.680 kg with half tank. I can tell you it's impossible to fill in 100 litres gazoline as specified on datasheet, I'm closer to 75 to 80 litres maximum, then it means my car weight is 1.640 kg, far too much ! Unless you will spend also some time & money to remove 200 kg, it still not worth to invest in a 5.0 engine. Power/weight ratio is still to high...better to invest in a 911 around 980 kg with a 3.8 engine and reliable 375 hp/din, short gearbox ratios...then you have a toy with agility. But, I'm fed up with Porsche, too many years spent in that Racing activity... Ciao Oliiver
When the stroke was increased by 7mm this means that in the lower engine block there must be enough room between block and crankshaft for the larger diameter crankshaft of the LP5000s (3,5 mm more diameter). Also there should be spacers between the heads and block like the QV engine has compared with the LP5000s.
Hi guys, Yesterday, I went to "Circuit de Gueux" = Reims old track, so Champagne worldwide 's capital welcomed retro races, sponsored by Mercedes. I will not extend on the show itself...saturday I was happy not to have done the trip due to massive rains. So sunny sunday early morning was a great trip throught the unwake french countryside & small villages...well they may have been wake up by the noise of my GTS ! Pierre Le Mounier - LCF secretary was alone in that muddy field, hopefully it wasn't so difficult to leave that place, but LCF members joined us as Olivier & his Countach QV...carefull he was to leave it outside the filed ! Enjoy the pics... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Who knows a little bit more about this GTS ? I was wondering VIN but also Silhouette wheels dimensions as well. They seems to be the same on front & rear and to match front ones from Silhouette. Any info is welcome. Image Unavailable, Please Login
That car needs to be rescued! Olivier, the photo appears to be in the US. Any idea what city? I am on the hunt for a Jarama and have the skills needed to save that car. Cheers, Paul
Yes that black cat is in USA, but pic was shoot a long time ago...don't know which state ! Well if you are looking for a Jarama there are some quite few available...which budget & location ? USA or EEC ?
Hi Olivier, Nice pictures, thanks for sharing. Good to see the Jarama is actually used by you for driving! Next time you have massive rains you can make yourself usefull by updating your Jarama Registry ;-) Ciao! Marcello
Thanks for the advice Marcello, next time my business will run by itself I will think about it, but who knows maybe in a couple of months ! Coming back from my Italy trip, I was with the only one Jarama... Please don't ask for pictures right now, there are more than 1.000 pics from 45° LamboParty + all what I saw & shoot. BUT the 2x major News regarding Jarama are : 1) I interviewed & recorded Paolo Stanzani who confirmed me again that Jarama was is "Baby", far away from Lambo customers'taste by that period. Jarama collected all technologies, skill & attention to be the best ever Lamborghini produced by that time under his authority, what he claimed to have completely fulfill. 2) Jarama SVR standing in Tonino Museum in Dosso is the 183th produced, VIN #10364 & engine #40891. Developpement was started by Wallace for racing track and achieved after he left factory. The Jarama Rally called Jarama Wallace (standing now in Germany after its rebirth done by Portman) wasn't developped for track but for rallying ! Last detail, Jarama GTS standing in factory museum is VIN #10429 & engine #41033 I won't be here for a couple of days, so be patient... Ciao,
Does that mean that there have been 2 real Race Jaramas? Do you know where 10364 went after the factory sold it, I heard that it came from Germany to Tonino. Isn't the car in the museum 10492? I'm not aware that the used uneven numbers. BTW were you able to check out the Jalpa Spyder VIN?
Finally someone who can give the VIN for the SVR, nice catch Olivier! In August 1995 a Jarama was for sale by Talacrest ltd in the UK. In an add the car was described as: Lamborghini Jarama S 1974 Unique factory lightweight. Most probably the Jarama Wallace but I was told that lightweight was the nickname for Jarama SVR. The blue Jarama S in the factory museum was always described as #10428 and I still believe it is. As long as I dont see the VIN plate I dont believe in uneven VINs for Jaramas (and Urracos). The only odd VIN plate Ive seen is #10549. The first idea was a misnumbering but what about the engine number which is odd to, with an 0 before the normal numbering. Anyone who knows other examples? #10428 was confirmed by Marcel de Lange, since he was always overcorrect I suppose he has seen the plate of the museum car.
I was typing too quickly, sorry that you waste your time about Jarama S factory Museum that is correctly #10428, you will get my picture later, as Valentino opened me the front hood... #10364 was Rosso Granada/nero and sold new to Lamborauto - Torino on 26th July 1972. I don't know and Fabio Lamborghini didn't tell me if was coming from Germany. Yes there are 2x special Jarama produced : SVR & Rally Wallace, confirmed by Fabio. No I have no chance to shoot VIN of Jalpa spyder ! Paolo confirmed me Jarama was is "baby" the best ever made Lamborghini, despite the fact Miura was a good car but devoted for the ones who want to be seen ! No more comments on these wise words from the man who managed to built most of them...in the early days ! Ciao Image Unavailable, Please Login
For those who didn't believe my Jarama did this trip of 3.145 km, we are back home... Fuel consumption was 461,49 liters of gazoline Super 98 & 7 litres of 20W50 engine oil. Conclusion : 14,67 litres/100 km, that's not bad for an old conception V12 4.0...compared to the 17,10 litrers/100 km I did previously with a Cayenne V8 S...latest technology... It looks you must have driven that good old Jarama at 80 km/h maximum on the right lane all trip long... Ciao! Marcello
Hey, I was gonna ask that ;-) And Olivier too I'm sure Do you know what happened to it? Any history on this car, former plates etc? Then we can close this file I think..spare parts? Ciao! Marcello
Marcello, Compute yourself : 1.224 km from Bruxelles to Viarregio in 11 hours, including station stop. From Modena to Bruxelles : 1089 km in 10 hours, same. and I can tell you that from Pisa friday night we all were cruising at 225 km/h... saturday around 160 to 180 km/h... sunday, it was even more crasy... So the Old Jarama had a very good time !!!
What else does your neighbor know about it ? Original spec like original color, interior location of 1st delivery, any clue to provide me... Also, does your neighbor sell these parts time to time ?
i think he does not know these specs some of the parts (body fronts i would say) are already gone to a french guy that had to repair his blue one i put the 2 in contacts last summer he still has some for sale for the jarama
Emilio, if the owner of these parts still hold the following, I'm a buyer : 1) rear deck lid 2) instrument : engine rev limiter 3) carpets with "Marazzi" script 4) fuel cap 5) air intake cover, underneath front bonnet
Olivier what is a deck lid? pics? pics of intake cover i will look and see if he has and wants to sell them
