Good one...unless it's in North Charleston. There may be 10 Ferraris in the lot at the beginning, but not sure they will all be there at the end ;)

Good luck in court Karl If you need any support I would be glad to help, not sure what I can do but I can sit in the back and throw spit wads at the back of his head or something.

Waiting to hear back from court.

So I have a voicemail from my buddy this afternoon and it says. Word for word.

"Karl, this is ******** ,I am going to make this very short and sweet. I see that you have not cashed my check. Obviously you feel that there is more due to you. To this day I have not received a bill of sale, I mean a bill of service or estimate. If you persist in this manner I will contact the IRS because I was never given these things so keep it up, keep it up. We'll be in court and make you look like a fool."

What a prince. The paperwork he is referring to went to the Ins. Co. at the beginning of June since they were paying the bill.

Save that voicemail, and play it in court. Perhaps it could be interpreted as a form of harassment and/or threatening message. Hopefully this ****** will call you more often and do the same!! Don't let him know that he is strengthening your case with each word!!

Sorry for your trouble. It is actually getting to be quite common out here. I know a few lawyers doing a good business going after deadbeat Ferrari owners. I know of a $44k, a $17k and a couple of smaller ones locally right right now. I just did a $1000 job about 2 weeks ago and he stopped by the bank on the way home to stop the check. Never intended to pay. On PPI's I get payment in advance because so many people are stiffing shops over them.

I understand. We assume that a person that owns a ferrari is a certain type of individual which for the most part is true.
I have right around 100 Ferraris in my clientel (not many compared to other shops around the country) but I am proud of that number and I can honestly say that I never had a bad experience with any of them until now.
Over an 18 year spread I think that is more than satisfactory.
Yet, I have learned another valuable lesson as a shop owner. Never assume anything and never, under any circumstances release a car until the bill is paid.
If someone pulls the stop payment thing that's a whole new can of worms.

    Karl,

I just read your post, of all people, I cannot believe this jerk did that to you. Let us know of the court date, and if you need character witnesses, I am in. Once it's all done with and you get payment, make sure you notify Carfax about the damage, and post his name on this forum, he needs to be exposed at the very least.
Sorry this happened to one of the nicest guys you coud trust with your car.

Stephane and Michael. Once again, thanks for the encouraging words. F chat members are the best.

    Thanks again.

PS Small Claims could never get up with anyone at the home address when trying to serve the guy. I now submitted his business address. I was trying to be professional and leave his business out of it. I guess he 'll get served in frt. of his employees.

That is GREAT news!!!! Now he's gonna have to see you in court, and answer for his deadbeat ways.

I'm kinda surprised that he could find an attorney to take on this case... I mean let's look at the obvious here. Deadbeat owns a Ferrari but is stiffing a repair shop on most of the bill. HHHMMM... Let's hope this attorney got his retainer up front and in cash/certified bank check, or he'll be suing the deadbeat next :D !!
