Some very wise people guided me to buying my 348 instead of a 355. I still like the looks of both, but the 20-40K in savings can get some serious mechanical work done to your 348, and interestingly at the Rockville show, my car sat next to a 308 and a TR, and it was getting more looks than either of them.

I love mine. Keep trash talking my Ferrari. It makes me laugh. Take a look at the foreclosure signs down the street and tell me who I should complain to that I don't own a 355...or a 430, or a ....whatever.

I could of bought a 512tr, 355gts or 348, drove many of all. And as far as feel and being able to zip around traffic a 348 is much better. Better feel then a 355, power steering? Give me a break, no matter how its set up, its still feels loose. Driven 355's, 95, 97 & 98. All are soft when it comes to steering wheel feel, not sloppy but no feel like a 348. 512's on the other hand, are great cars, TOO BIG. No spider or ts, that's why prefered a ts or tried the 355 gts. As far as up keep, read the thread's on this forum, thats enough to educated anyone. 355 have issues, many electronic issues, valve issues, header issues. COSTLY. 348's have issues, more like grimlins that can be fixed ONCE. 355's have repeated header issues and valve issues. The only visual that I like about a 355 is the rear lights, see my public profile and you will see what I mean. All Ferrari's have some issues, be prepared. Financially be prepared, you will save some money buying a 348 instead ofa 355, not much more these days for well sorted cars. Maybe a savings of 15K to 20K. That said my first one was a 308gts, then a 328gts, am happy with this 348 and will keep it, as I am now also shopping for a 550. Forgot to add 1 more thing, yes you do get more HP's in a 355, 348's feel more torquey, and last but not least with a 355 you get a hairdryer and lots of hair gel:)

Look both cars are the last of a breed the only last true designed Ferrari before Fiat put their influence on them.

    348 was designed for G.I.JOE

    355 was designed for Barbi...:p

There is no doubt that a more modern car (355) will have improvements over an older car (348) with all the stat figures to proove it. I however, buy my cars based on passion for the design, look, sounds and driver feeling. This is why it was love at first sight and I chose the 348 spider. Even at slow speeds it sounds awesome, the steering makes you feel like you are about to race even though you are stuck in traffic. Recently I saw on utube on the 10 best ferraris ever voted by the public. I believe people will vote on the ferrari they believe looks the best since most do not have technical know how to differentiate on that basis. The chosen one was the Testarossa, while the 348 is considered by many the "little brother" of the testarossa, one can see how I and many love this "bella macchina"

I wish I had read this thread before i got my 348. :(

All these years i thought it wa s agreat car, but now I read this. I feel so dissapointed and ashamed.

All these years I wondered why other owners would point and laugh at me at Ferrari meets. I thought it was due to the way i looked and dressed, but now I realise it's because I had the worst Ferrari ever made. I'm scared to drive it now as I think it may kill me somehow. Perhaps explode if I switch the engine on?? What if i go faster than 50mph...will it spin out of control???

    Someone please help me...

I'm going to put it on ebay right now!!!

    Well...maybe not. :D

No Sy, the car will only spin out at 60 mph. At 50 you should be okay, but you never know!
I never drive my car because it is the worst Ferrari ever made.
It sits in the garage collecting dust....
    NOT!

    Totally agree with you bill.:D

Underneath that crash helmet is a grown man crying because of the distress of having to drive a 348 at Brands Hatch. I cant understand how I put myself through the same painful experience year after year.

    I need counseling

I've found someone willing to take my 348 in exchange for a Honda NSX. Plus I have to give him $100,000 as he says the 348 is a pile of ****.

Is that figure too low or should I pay him more?

Can you not exchange your 348 for one of those coaches in the background???

I'm sure they have better road holding and hold their value better.

    +1...

I've driven all three: 360, 355 and 348...My all time favorite is the 348. agressive design, screeching F1 sound and race car feel.
a couple of years ago I sold my 89 Porsche blue targa and today I regret it. never again..keeping my 348 4ever..

Mine is the worst car I have ever owned. When I was asked to exchange it for a bag of sweets I jumped at the chance and only have to give the kid and extra £1

OHHHHMG ... I made another BIG mistake! I was told that my 86 TR was the worst car ever made and that the transaxle would surely explode if I ever drove it. So I bought a 94 348 Spider ... and I am just now finding out that the 348 is really the worst car ever made ... I guess they'll both have to sit in the garage and just be looked at

The will not break down if we just look at them ..... right? It is a good thing my wife is a Psychologist
