    Congrats nice car.

I've always wanted one of these. Legendary Motor Cars in Toronto had one a while ago with 11K, nice car, I just couldn't get into the color (same as yours). It does amaze me how affordable these cars are for what you get.

    Enjoy.

A real classic. Someone in our neighborhood has a Series 1 in BRG and its always a joy to watch it drive by. As for low mileage E-Types there are 3 for sale at the Imperial Palace car museum in Las Vegas. One is white, one is BRG, and I think the other is red and if I'm not mistaken. One of their "time capsule cars" has around 7,500 miles. I think the asking prices were all over $100K, and I think they are series 1 cars.

Best regards and hope to see more pix of your car soon.

Whoa. Stunning. Love the colour, gorgeous in every way. It has to be one of the last 4.2s ( 1971 was a terrific year :) )and you have the hardtop also ? Just wow.

Great car, I have also a 1971 S2 Roadster which I bought with 10,200 original miles, but the car needed a complete repaint and mechanical work as it had been sitting for very long.

What is the S/N on yours? is it a 2R prefix?

    Yes..thats it!

I have started the professional detailing....It is like uncovering a diamond from the midst of a coal pile...

Plenty of Laquer to rub out...I dont believe this car has been ever professionally polished, there was a coat of cloudy milky oxidation throughout.

previous owner had the car since 1974...thats 34 years...

I believe an original 99+ point concours car will soon emerge..

A few years ago, an old mid west Jag dealer had a 74 that they never sold. It was never titled. After a few years they kept it as a mascot. That car had like no miles on it.

Anyway, sweet car. Best of luck with it, it is beautiful.

Brought it home Last Night...one week of Detailing...
    Thanks Gus...Tecknik 1.

Now comes my detailing....I believe this car will have no concours deductions...

Cant get the smile off my face as I had this same car in college....in late 70's..
The one thing I was sure of when I looked at this car was that I knew Jag used over 10 coats of Laquer...I had Gus remove 2 of them..
    Behold The 8th Coat.

The car is the real deal...

the actual door sills and underneath the windows is where this car is most prone to rust...they are chalky dry original.

The door striker plates the look unused..chalky clean

The chin under the front bonnet is unscathed as is all the under rocker panels.

The original paint goes from shiny on top to chalky under the rear valance.

There is no Bondo...no shading varyances. All the paint over the bonnet seams inside the engine compartment is believable 37 years old.

The spare tire compartment has never seen the light of day..it is new and the Patina is correct.

    The instrument panel is flawless.

The seats were dry and cracked...I have conditioned them and cleaned them..no rips.

The car has had one owner for 35 of the 37 years...Because the torsion bars are not saging, I believe the car was on jacks.

Engine and gear box are just too tight for a fake...

    Its Real...

Sweet look...I have a black hardtop as well..
Is That a talbot mirror?..would love to mount 2 forward bonnet mirrors..real British
tell me what Wheel and Tire are you running

My 15X5's are a tad wimpy, they have original tires on them, for authenticity I will not dismount them , I will have a second set of wheels and tires...
dayton makes a 15 X 6 and a 16 X 6..its just I dont know what tire I would use, and or would Fit... Does the series one have the same fender clearance as th 2..

hi, from memory the wheels are Dayton's that have been widened to 6'inch front and rear 7's or 7.5's (on the back i have different axle hubs) tyres either Dunlop R series tyres or Advans Rs 205/60/15 front rear 225/60/15.
IMO go for the triple lace Dayton or their Borrani replicars as per this photo.
Mirror is a talbot. regards Rob Bailey.
