    Ha, finally some muscle talk from Ferrari. I for one wouldn't mind them leaving F1. Perhaps they can up their GT efforts. Maybe even return to Le Mans with a GT1 factory team or a 333 SP-esque proposal for LMP2.

    I'm glad to hear this. If Ferrari couldn't build there own engine for theirs car, I'd loose interest in F1 anyway.

    The idea of a spec engine in F1 is ludicrous. I hope the other manufacturers take the same position as Ferrari. An engine is the heart of a car but it is the soul of a Ferrari.

    A single make engine and transmission has already been tried, not in Formula 1 but an series that is no longer called "Champ Car"

    F1 needs Ferrari more than Ferrari needs F1. I wouldn't mind seeing the Scuderia dump F1 for a few years to go back to Le Mans with prototypes and the 599. With them in the series I think more manufacturers would come in.

    It is almost certainly part of a negotiating tactic, but how 'broken' is F1 when the governing authority rules with an iron fist and threatens to castrate the teams if they don't do theirs their way? Ridiculous.

    Mosley gets off not only on nazi hooker orgies, but also on strongarming multibillion dollar companies. He's like the traffic cop that gets off on making the high-dollar executive wait on him while he writes a traffic ticket and takes his sweet ass time doing it.

    Same mentality too - little man trying to flex his muscle to make up for what he doesn't have. In the case of Mosley, he never "made it". He has never been respected or honored... even Bernie got his OBE. Max got exposed in a hooker orgy.

    You can only push so far before the real powers in F1 step up and say enough is enough.

    Ironically, almost everything I can recall Max changing has led to higher costs. Because CHANGE means teams have to adapt, and whenever you CHANGE anything, that means billions of dollars across all the teams. Changing to a single tire? Huge changes in chassis geometry to be 'gentle' to tires. Changing from a V10 to a V8? HUGE changes needed, leading to giant, massive costs. Change to KERS? HUGE change, with HUGE costs.

    In ANY sport, there are going to be teams that can (and do) spend at a high level and those that enjoy competing, but aren't in it for wins. In baseball you have the Yankees, Red Sox and other big $$ teams and then you have the Indians :) In any sport it's like that, even Nascar, Le Mans and IRL. Max needs to get over this idea that a team like Super Aguri is EVER going to be able to compete with Ferrari. Even if he could create the cirumstances where that would be possible, then a team like Ferrari would necessarily be hampered to achieve that, and as such they would want to compete in a series where they can strut their stuff, without being hampered.

    Max needs to

    1) STOP making changes

    2) STOP the focus on the black art of aero - which is hugely expensive and makes it impossible to pass (when you come close, your aero is gone, and you lose your speed)

    3) Let the top teams do what they want to do - spend money and win

    4) Customer cars already happen (STR, Aguri, Force India, etc). Just embrace and foster that and let it grow

    If they want to lower the costs of being in F1, how about giving an equal share to the teams instead of giving them money based on their points finishes? Someone like Aguri could never hope to catch up because not only do they not have $$ to spend, they lose ground every year when they get $5mm and Ferrari gets $100mm. Just dish out the $$ evenly. Ferrari won't miss it and it will be a huge boon to the lower teams.

    And I saved the best for last.... if Max hadn't unethically and imorally cut a back-room deal with Bernie to give away the TV rights to F1, in return for a $300mm bribe, then the money that the teams generate from F1 would be going back to the teams instead of going to Bernie and CVC in a backroom deal. Max ought to be in jail for that one - total breach or fiduciary duty.

    I enjoy F1 but the idea of Ferrari dropping F1 for a few years to create a Le Mans series P1 car could be wonderful. Imagine a 21st century 512M battling it out with the likes of Audi and Porsche. No doubt they would have the advantage but damn a Ferrari Le Mans P1 car would look awesome.

    Maybe the trade off the FIA is shooting for is a more "greener" power plant? "OK, we're backing off the spec engine but we're pressing the fuel efficient stuff on you guys so we look like we're leading the charge??" At any rate the "cost saving" line is an excuse.

    I only disagree with one point; they need to shift the focus on aero from wings to ground effects. GP2 cars have subtle ground effects and simple wings and have no problem racing closely. LeMans protoypes are all over each other, and both have ground effects. It's so simple that I cannot believe that with all the intelligent people in the FIA and F1 no one has thought of this.

    Totally agree with all your points.

    I think Mosley wants to put pressure on the big teams/manufacturers. It's been his tactic for years. He knows that the teams aren't really united and this is his way of saying: "try and come up with a better idea. If not, I will put my ideas forward". The teams will reject the one engine proposal but I'm afraid they won't be able to come up with a good alternative that's agreed by all teams which opens the door for Max to impose his own plans.

    I hope they don't leave.
    On the other hand it would be nice to see them active in Le Mans...

    If they left though I would stop watching F1 tell they came back...
