    Dude,
Shave your head and live with it like the rest of us.
Nothing wrong with the Kojack look.
Think of the positives, no time to dry and style your hair, money saved in hair care products, and no one like me making fun of your hair style because you look like a tart...........

I've had three hair transplant surgeries and it's been money well spent.

All that talk about bald is beautiful is a distant second to a full head of hair. I've actually spent more on the grafts than i have on my Ferrari.

It looks natural and i would do it again if needed.

Its nothing to do with "bald is beautiful" , its about self respect, if you are so insecure, or you care about how you look, or what other people think about you, then you have bigger problems. You are what you are and its how you deal with it thats important, time to own yourself. What next, pills to make your knob bigger, or services to find you a girlfriend ????.........Oh mayby you already have that..... give me a break..............

i'm 22 this year, and my hair started thinning a while ago. i shaved it all off, and most ppl agree that i look better w/out hair. now, i've been growing it back for 2 months now, having shaving my hair since January. the new hair that's growing, is still thin, but it looks heallthy. it's jet black and soft.

for me, i've made up my mind. if my hair realy starts thinning terribly, i'll just shave it all off rather thann taking pills and stuff, hoping everything will be ok. it's part of life. thats just my opinion of cos...

I have plenty of self-respect and I am not the least bit insecure with any aspect of myself. I just like having hair. It is just that simple.

Getting a hair transplant isn't about trying to get laid. At least it has never slowed me down.

Nothing to do with self respect, but the fact you worry about your hair proves you care what other people think of you, which is fine, I know people that spend $300 on a pair of jeans, (plain old levi's are fine with me), but if you are secure in yourself hair/no hair, fat/slim, tall/short etc etc, this does not matter

I'm glad I'm not a quitter like you.

I solved my problem and now have a great head of hair that will last and last.

I love it, and my wife loves it.

I'm glad I never got your advice. Very glad.

Get outta here... you are not welcome in this thread :p

As much as I'd like to think that is true, if you look unattractive, no matter how secure you are with yourself, you have a huge hurdle to jump over. It can be done, but it's not just a matter of confidence.

The whole time I was growing up, my mom told me I would never go bald because her dad had a full head of hair (and still does, at 81). My dad's dad was bald. My mom was wrong.

I've given some thought to doing the transplant thing, but I got some quotes around 15-20K, and I just don't think that's worth it to me.

My hair is about as short as it can be without totally shaving it... but the problem is, I'm really thin, so I'll look like a cancer patient. :)

Well from my limited research, it seems like there are different types. One type is where they take a strip of hair from the back of the head/neck, so you are left with a scar. A friend of mine had that done and it cost him around 5-6K I think. The quote I got was for FUE (folicular unit extraction?), where they take individual hairs and you don't have a scar. I'd prefer that method since if I got totally sick of the whole thing, I could shave my head without having a big scar in the back, and that's what I got a quote of 15-20K for. It was for an estimated 3500 grafts, which according to that website, would be about the same cost.

He usually has better deals than what's left up on the site, but you're right, 3500 is a lot more than I thought. Plus I think he doesn't do FUE, but I could be wrong.

    Have you tried Propecia?

I only got a consultation from one doctor, and it was over the internet (I sent photos), so 3500 might be more than I actually need, who knows. I looked through the gallery on the site you posted and some of those guys were totally bald on top and had ~2000 grafts, so who knows.

And yea, I've tried Propecia. Took it for close to a year and then stopped. Let's just say I experienced some side effects that made it not worth it. And actually, this is another reason I haven't pursued the transplant further - I know I'd have to take Propecia for the rest of my life.

Last I heard, within this generation there will be the cure. You simply can't stress a situation you can't change. But in the mean time I can change my condition to be able to afford it when it occurs.

I hear ya.....me too. But they say if you reduce the dosage, the side effect is reduced as well,
then some people just find out what balance they can tolerate. But hair regrowth may also be reduced with a smaller dose.

I have been on Propecia since 1998 and the side effects are basically gone. Taking a small pill everyday for the rest of your life isn't a big deal. I have it in the kitchen and take it with my morning coffee. Don't even think about it.

Mine journey started out with a series of scalp reductions. I did 4. It is basically just cutting out an eliptical section of the balding scalp and pulling the sides up. You do it, wait 3-4 months and do it again until you can't pull anymore. This makes the balding area on top smaller so you can use fewer grafts later. I did this between 91 and 93. I did the transplants between 93 and 97.

Last thurs they put in 1250 grafts. I looked pretty good but my Dr said that I still had enough donor area to thicken things up a bit and move my hairline down a little if I wanted. It was $5200 and I was in the OR for - and I am not kidding - 7 hours. Laid down at 9am and got up at 4. The IV valium was gone by 2:30 and I didn't want any more so I sat out the last hour and a half kinda watching them in a mirror.

I said before I will post some pics but I need a Moderator's permission first. It doesn't look bad, at least not to me, Just weird.

Bottom line for me was I was NOT going to let myself go bald. Period. I paid for the first 2/3 with my student loan $ for dental school. I took out the max and lived at home so I could afford to do it. I did and I don't regret one single penny. I paid the US Dept of Education off IN FULL back in 05 so this hair is all mine now.

Nothing to do with being a quitter, I just have better things to do with my time than worry about my hair, or what people think of it, I am not a movie star, just a guy who fixes cars. My wife prefers me with a crew cut, and I prefer the lack of hassel. Opinions are like armpits, everyone has two and thinks everyone elses stinks.
I am happy you like your hair, glad your wife likes it, I just cannot be bothered to waste my time and energy on this sort of thing.

And I just like having the buzzed look, to each his own, nothing right or wrong with it.
My hair used to be long, and dealing with it after a MX race, or street bike race was a pain, ride motocross long enough and being able to clean your head with a towel is a blessing.
