The wife and I took the car out for a canyon drive through malibu yesterday. I warned her that the AC was not working but she wanted to go anyway since it was in the low 70's at our house.
By the time I was deep into the canyons it was in the 80's and my black/black car was getting toasty. Of course the wife says let's try the AC it may work. I wanted to rip her lungs out of her
chest! I told her "it wont work and I warned you, so deal with it!!!" (DISCLAIMER: I love my wife, she's gorgeous, the nicest person I have ever met, and she doesn't take any **** from me or anyone)...
BUT, I friggin warned her and I was pissed that she was pushing the issue.....anyhow, I said "go ahead then, your wasting your time and the car will only get hotter"......I was right!!!!!
Then all of the sudden COLD AIR!!!! WTF!!!!! It worked for 5 minutes then stopped. Any ideas???

Maybe some moisture in system or problem with the expansion valve.

If moisture in the system has to be purged, dryer bottle replaced, and then recharged.

If expansion valve has to be replaced.

Or it could be that the clutch is not getting current-bad connection, connection came off, etc.

It may be a simple fix.

Could be that me thinks. :):)

Or another serious issue with sticking TX (expansion) valve or something. :):)

Sounds likely. I had that prob with a 7 series BMW about 8 years ago.

It would cool one day and next nothing.

Replacing the expansion valve did the trick!

Yes, I had the same thing. Sometimes it would work and other times it would blow hot air. Took a couple of trips to the dealer. Turned out to be the climate control ecu. They plugged it in and couldn't get the hand held computer to sync with the climate control ecu. They emailed the data to Italy (or New Jersey) and after a couple of days, Ferrari sent them a new ECU. They plugged it in and buttoned her up and everything has worked perfectly since then. This happened on my 2006 coupe last summer and happened on another 2006 coupe a friend owns this past fall. So far the new Spider has been OK. I bet you have the same issue. Good Luck
