There is a shop in Montclair, New Jersey that many of us have used in the past for maintenance & upgrades. For years they have been scamming people and using credit cards in a fraudulent manner.

It has been uncovered and exposed.

Please protect yourself from any possibility of fraud.

Wow, Seth. That's TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE news! I've met Ludmilla once or twice and cannot believe that someone would take such advantage of her.

Thanks for cross-posting and keeping us all informed.

Ask Seth over the email... It would be too much to write about. And it mean it - way too much.

    That is one confusing story.

Sorry to complain, but I've read it twice and don't see the name of any of the shops in question.

for those who don't want to sign up to a new forum, and don't want to read 11 pages of some thread somewhere, can one of you guys provide a Reader's Digest version of the story? Name of the shop/shops in question and exactly what the transgressions were?

    Grazie,

    dave

Thats horrible to hear, Last I spoke with her, marcello was being repaired, at least I thought. She did not tell me who was doing the work, wish I knew.

I will have to try and contact her and see if I can help.

Shame...She really loves that car and I am sure she is really really upset, Probably why the post she made was incoherant

    Regards, Jim

Yes, it is confusing I agree. I suspect as someone said, Ludmilla was distraught when she wrote it (and English is not her native language anyway).
From what I think I understood, the Reader's Digest version is this: Marcello was damaged, Ludmilla entrusted his care to a "friend" and their recommended shop. Ludmilla signed over and $80,000 insurance check and left the country on a trip, checking on the progress through her "friend" while away. Became suspicious when things didn't seem to be happening, and ultimately learned that Marcello hadn't been fixed, and the money was gone.

Did I get it right (those of you who know)?

Like Dave, I doubt I'm going to sign up to the other forum (maybe I'll change my mind, but I'm barely looking in here lately, just have some other stuff going on, and don't want to add another forum I can't get to). So I'm going to ask a question here that I'm sure has already been answered there -- does Ludmilla have any legal help? Have any of the local Fchatters who are lawyers stepped up?

Yes. Ludmilla is already working on the case with proper authorities and lawyers. Hope to seek solution soon.

Good to know, Lukas (pass this along to Ludmilla (I will try to PM her myself soon also), but if any "second opinion" is needed, let me know. (I'm a lawyer.))
