I'm disappointed, fellas.
Didn't even know this existed until I read this! Looks pretty interesting, although the design is a bit... adventurous.
Hey, I've just been reading some of the initial reviews. "Yawn" seems to be the general reaction - I'm certainly not about to dump my iPhone that's for sure...... It will be interesting to see who, if any, pick up the open source S/W that it's running - That could be the "killer app" if it's any good - Which right now doesn't appear to be the case. OTOH, Google have more $ than God and this is release 1.0. They certainly have the resources to get it right. My 02c, Cheers, Ian
Here's a few shots. I'd post them here, but it wouldn't give proper credit. http://www.flickr.com/photos/alexmuse/2887575628/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/alexmuse/2882386637/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/alexmuse/2883221518/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/alexmuse/2883219198/ Impressions? Dig the keyboard. From what I've read, it can multitask much better than the iPhone. Is it an iPhone killer? Doubtful, but a strong competitor. If only TMobile can do better in their marketing department, then it will be a hot seller. They should let google do the marketing for them.
Hearing nothing but complaints from everyone I know on T-Mobile, why would anyone with AT&T or Verizon drop that great service for a lesser?
I've been with Sprint for almost 9 years, not that many issues with the exception of their outstanding customer service skills. (yawn) I thought about going with an iphone when my contract is up in April but since I learned about the G1 it might be very well worth looking into. tech specs http://www.htc.com/www/product/g1/specification.html
Is it just me or is the onboard memory a bit low for what it's got, either way, SD cards are dirt cheap now. Phone looks great, any word on when a Canadian version will be available?

Got mine this Wednesday as a gift from an HTC employee...certainly has the right stuff as far as the OS is concerned, but the moving parts literally creak when you push the screen and the majority of the problems I have encountered are T-Mobile network issues ... I think it's a great phone...too bad T-Mobile can't back it up.
Got mine and am posting from it now. I like the web access and I'm coming from a bb pearl so I'm cool about the trackball. It will take some getting use to, but so far so good.
loved my Treo (Palm OS), but can't get them anymore...Windows Mobile sucks. Can't get used to the Apple keyboard, the G1 has the best of both worlds! Absolutely love it, took a little time to export my contacts from Outlook to gmail, bút now it's smooth sailing. Feels like I had it for a long time already, very intuitive.
I'll likely be getting the Google phone. I've been with Sprint for 7 years, and love their network coverage. They have one problem, they won't be getting these slick phones due to the frequency range at which they operate. Bonuses for the G phone compared to the iphone: true plug and play device. You can drag and drop any files you wish as long as they fit on the micro sd card. I may wait for version 2.0; but that is hard to say for sure.
Our office got a few for testing on our sms platforms. The phones are great I really like it. Cant wait for the store to open up
i set the f-chat as my home page on my G1 browser. i've been with t-mobile since it was voice stream and love them. I use to have the MDA, which is a great phone in itself, but the g1 is the next level of greatness. Warning! G1 is not windows base and I'm stuck entering almost 2000 numbers into my G1. Really sucks but the phone is every bit worth it.
Okay, I finally took a couple hours to dive deep into this device. Cons -Very frustrating how feature-starved the "Maps" Application is. -I can't figure out where a file that I downloaded (a podcast in MP3 format) is stored so I can name it and access it later. -Once I changed the wallpaper I can't figure out how to select a new one without either taking a picture and setting it as wallpaper, or emailing myself a new wallpaper. Pros -By owning one of these, I don't see myself as the "Same kind of different as everyone else" with their silly I-phones. -Most of the Cons, I seem to have resolved by downloading free apps.
G1 has already been "jailbroken" to allow aps to be stored on the micro SD HC card, rather than just on the system memory. Apparently, the process is relatively straight forward.
