I am sorry, although I am not shocked at his post (I expected it from him.) It is CLEAR that he is new to college football and it is evident that he is borderline bandwagon.

Alabama barely beat a team that almost everyone here agreed was having an off season. Just like the Big-10, teams play up for the big game. Everytime I flipped to the 'bama game, I saw a punt or an incomplete pass buy the LSU QB. IMO his performance was abysmal and yet they almost won.
If LSU had their starter, the game would have been a typical SEC blowout.

Iowa lost 4 games this year by less then 5 points. PSU will drop to 6 or 7. They should be ranked above USC who lost to a non-ranked joke team that PSU destroyed. The real fraud in the NCAA is USC.

    The Big-10 will rise again....

Then I guess you haven't learned anything.

For what it's worth, what you said before was "Classy."

That "if" game goes both ways. If Alabama had done things differently, we would have beat them like a drum. See?

Good teams find a way to win. That's the bottom line. I am proud that my team showed that they had it in them not to give up. I wouldn't trade anything for that either. Coach Bryant would have been proud too.

I'm not denying Alabama has struggled, I'll be the first to admit they have a lot to work on. The SEC overall is having a down year, LSU being one of those teams that is off. But they are still a tough team to play, and it is still a great conference. The emotion of today's Bama-LSU game, and the physicality of the SEC in general, is something that is above and beyond other games in the country almost every week.

Hate me for talking up the SEC, but those who do not believe the SEC is the toughest, most physical conference to play in year in and year out, are fools. Or, they just haven't watched much football to be speaking about it, to borrow an accusation of yours.

Doesn't matter that Bama lost a close one - that's what I thought would happen. That's LSU, that's Bama, that's the SEC. Tough, physical, real football. Bama is undefeated, Penn State is not - bottom line.
Bama played like sh*t, but they still won @ LSU, with a record crowd cheering against them, to an LSU team that has beat them 5 years in a row in some very tough games. That shows that Bama is a good team, the found a way to win. Penn State did not.

When PSU "barely" beat OSU... this concept was hard to comprehend.

An Ohio State team that got trounced and embarrassed by USC.
    What were you saying, again?

1 game a year doesn't make them a tough, physical, real football team.

...and USC was "trounced" by an un-ranked team that was "trounced" by PSU. They (USC) are still ranked with the best..

You can't legitimately compare apples to apples in the NCAA.

    It wasn't by me.

I was paying attention. Been a PSU fan all my life.

(most Bama fans LOVE Penn State. It's Notre Dame that we collectively hate)

We aren't a great team but we play hard and at least no one can say that we haven't been tested this year. We were tested tonight.

Now LSU is behind us and we have work to do still. This season is FAR from over.

    Sounds about right.

Gator, hope you get to go. I might be going, also. Should be a good one.
I went to the Bama-Clemson game at the Georgia Dome to start the season, was great. Wish we were playing that well now.

The team that wins the Big 12 South will play Missouri in the championship game. What sucks about the BCS is that if Missouri were to win they would, I assume, get a BCS bid even though there would probably be two or three other deserving teams in the same conference that will be left out due to the "2 max from an conference" rule.

So a team like Boise St and/or Utah, who hasn't played anybody all year, will get a BCS bid only to get killed by a real team. Hawaii 2007 comes to mind.

Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma St., Missouri....is Boise St. better than three of these teams?

Alabama, LSU, Florida...is Boise St better than any of these teams?

If you are from Idaho and take offense, sorry play some real teams out of conference. Forget Southeast Wyoming State for a season opener, book a game with a top team in the Central or Eastern time zones and see if you go undeafeated.

I don't disagree with your rankings, maybe Penn State behind USC would be the only switch. Really not that important at this stage though as in the top five teams you listed there will be at least two more losses in head-to-head games.

You guys should try living in a small town like Tuscaloosa with all this stuff going on! People are just holding their breath.

I hate it that Penn State lost, my dad went there.

    FL looks really dangerous.

Put Texas in the #6 or #7 slot and move PSU to about #15 and it would be about right. Oklahoma State deserves to currently be on that list even with 2 losses. They are a good team, even with 2 losses. Unfortunatly they now have to play Oklahoma, which will hand them their third. But they could beat Utah and Boise State. Not sure about Ohio State, it would be a good game.

    HOW ABOUT THAT CRIMSON TIDE~!

I know the good Dr. Cosgrove is just as tickled as i am that God's team is looking down the barrel of a national championship after only 23 games with His second son as the head coach of the U of A!

Went to Atlanta to start the season(smacked Clemson around) and I'll be there to end it(at least, the last date of 2008 - the bowl will be in 2009!). Can't wait to beat the Gators again!

Still gotta get past Croom and Dumbo -- they will both be coaching as if it's the biggest games of their coaching careers........fortunately, the Tide will be favored and have the crowd in both matchups.

    ROLL TIDE!!!!!

Alabama doesn't have a chance against the Gators. I watched them play last night, LSU handed them the game and STILL almost won. The only scary thing about 'Bama is that big o-line.

I must admit I am a little nervous about playing South Carolina, since Spurrier is there it has always been tough. But we should win out and the SEC Championship will be a hell of a game, I am working on going with one of my booster friends.

I do think the SEC championship will be a heck of a game, but the dynamics are totally different than the LSU game.

Anyway, time to look at that later, now time to focus on the next two games, because in the SEC hubris or lack of attention detail is a quick way to be upset, and both of the next games have the potential to do that if we lose focus. Coach Saban, easily the most effective college coach alive today, has a terrific young team with a lot of heart, but the season is far from over. Need to let them focus on each game.

Coach Spurrier is also quite good, and Florida would be smart to be careful as well as you imply.
