A1 GP - TV listings?

where does a1 gp rank among the sub-levels of F1?

 

More of a retirement place for F1 drivers than a feeder series. A few ex-F1 drivers have driven there. Karthakaian(sp?) for example. Ferrari is supplying the cars next year.

 

As along as F1 doesn't turn into it ...

Looks like race starts in a few hours. I'll watch just to see how well Andretti does. I predict he'll either crash someone out or finish 9th or 10th. The poorer the job he does here, the lower his credibility gets, if it wasn't pretty low already.

 

Yes, but now it's called GP2. Most all the young F1 drivers come from there. If you are an F1 fan, you should be watching GP2 because it will make you a better fan. You will become more familiar with the F1 drivers as they move up the ranks. Next year Bruno Senna and Romain Grosjean may be driving in F1. Usually the winner of GP2 gets a seat in F1. Hamilton, Glock, Rosberg all were GP2 champs.

 

All true. GP2 is the primary feeder to F1. GP2 coverage generally starts 1 hour before the F1 races. The problem is that GP2 runs concurrent with the F1 season, so it is over until next spring. The A1Gp season has just begun and can keep open wheel race junkies happy through the winter. In that respect it is a bit like the old Tasman series from the 60's. A1Gp is based on "national" teams competing against each other. It has the potential to develop into a good series.

 

its not that bad steve....and why shouldnt F1 turn in to it...look at the reporter the brits have, she's fit. its on sky 402 right now.


Its not a bad series to be honest, it does have a few F1 boys in it, namely alex yoong and karthekian (who i dont rate as an f1 driver, his daddy paid jordan A LOT of money so his little boy could have a go...). Its not an F1 retirement home at all.


Another reason why it doesnt catch on at all in britain is because its got absolute rubbish coverage, AND its on pay programs.


the race isnt much fun as of yet, Ireland 1st with holland second with britain following.

 

Yes I'm being a bit hasty really, calling it without much knowledge of it, however I don't like the one engine and chassis for all, thing, because that's what I like about F1, it amazes me how different the cars can be, (well more so in the past), but still be within tenths of each other. So as long as Max doesn't get all his own way on the engine side of things, it's for the better IMO.

I know a little bit about A1 like it's all nations competing against each other and all the cars are the same so it's all down to the driver, which is great but i've never actually seen a race it's only on Sky which is annoying becuase to be able to watch A1 you have to pay something like £40 Sterling a month then theres the fee for the box and the dish, so it just isn't worth it. What i would like to know is A) is there anywhere on the internet for example so i can watch it B) what is the racing like.. is it basically open and all up for grabs like hopefully what F1 will be more like next year and should of been like for years or are there a few nation that dominate it all?

P.S. Apparently Lucas Digrasi for GP2 also (sp?) has had a a test for Renault so hopefully he will get the drive for next year and not Nelson Jr
