Hello all, long time Ferrari fan (road cars, not race cars) here saying Hi. I expect I'll be on here nagging you all for technical info on various models in the future as I am running a small detailing business & the demands for a high quality service are becoming so high that we (detailers) are find that more and more parts are having to be removed from cars to offer a "proper" deep clean. So I expect in the coming months to be asking "how do I remove this vent & that piece of trim" etc. So anyway, Hi all.
Hi Mark And welcome to FChat. One thing I will say is be very careful when detailing older cars and removing vent covers etc... With age bolts/self tappers corrode and if one snaps then you have a whole load of trouble on your hands correcting it (at your expense). Pete
Wise words, hence the need for me to be fully insured. I do however carry a large supply of s/t screws, so if I find some corroded I'll replace where possible, with a dab of Waxoyl on the threads for good measure.
I was more refering to having to redrill and tap threads. There are a couple of detailers on here who might chime in and give advice. My car is an '83 and it has always been garaged but some of the bolts and screws still shear off when removing then after 25 years of metal on metal contact. I suppose my opinion is if you are cleaning and detailing a car for someone you don't to have to spend hours sorting out silly little things that wouldn't go into your final bill. Just remember a lot of parts are now unobtainum.
WELCOME MARK dont trust hazy hudson tommo or wax they just ban people and use there powers on here to bully everybody EXCEPT RMD FERRARI he seems to be able to post what he wants
