I spent the better part of the weekend pulling - cleaning and re-spraying door panels, steering column surrounds and the center console. The infamous sticky bits, the steering column looked like a badger had been chewing around the ignition switch. The door handles showed finger prints of the past two owners, and the AC looked like a topo map. Started with the door handles easy enough. This lead to a bit of confidence and we went after the steering and center console. After reading many, many threads on this site on how and what to do. World of information, door panel removal, switch removal, the instrument cluster, disassembly of the AC control unit. Thank you to all that have put this information out there. I completed the process Sunday. I used Performix Plasti Dip in flat black. Very pleased and satisfied with the outcome. Thanks to Ricambi for the AC overlay.

Started with Easy Off and then on top of that used isopropyl alcohol and an old tooth brush. This worked great on the large bits. Wash and rinse with warm soapy water - let dry and follow up with 3 - 4 light coats of the plastic-dip. The switches I used a q-tip and very carefully removed the varnish on each with an old rag and finger nail. I left them unpainted, they seem to match the flat black color pretty well when done.

Sounds like you took the same route I did for cleaning. I left my switches bare also. Wasn't worth trying to mask the artwork and keep the new finish out of the switch mechanisms. I went with a plastic textured paint that matched the overlay better (in my opinion) Your Plastidip spray finish looks great in your pictures though!

These threads on FChat are a real Godsend for these types of issues.

I removed all the sticky staff from car interior except I did not repaint the plastic. The plastic is natural black and you don't need to refinish anything. If you want to make the plastic glow you can use a tire gel finish by Wolfgang (yes tire gel), it lasts for a long time and makes the plastic look amazing you can even use it on the engine intake parts.

Looks awesome Stan!!!! I guess I better step up, I have some competition!! :D:D:D

The switches are certainly a bear to deal with. It takes me about one full day to strip and refinish all the switches in a 355....Very time consuming and tedious work...

I got it at Pep Boys here in Chicago. You take a cotton rug put very little and just rub it on the plastic; you'll be amazed how great it looks when you're done. I did my car this summer and the car still looks great inside. I say if it's good to use on rubber then it should be even better to use on plastic. The only part that you will need to repaint again is the ashtray the ashtray cover is aluminum metal under the factory finish.

I just got my pieces back from Robbie. I'm telling you, it is absolutely unbe-frickin-evable. Don't even bother trying to do it yourself. Box the crap up, and send it to Maryland. I am stunned... stunned, at the results.

+1 I am on my 2nd attempt at plasti dip on the door handles, and they are peeling again. Going to use a lacquer finish this time.

For the 348 door handles your best choice is to send it to Robbie (285ferrari). When you remove the finish on the 348 handles you get the aluminum color, on the F355 the handles are black naturaly when finish is removed.

Just a lacquer paint, I am thinking of using a satin finish. Lacquer should hold up to the use better than other paints.

Looks fantastic Stan!. I wonder if Ricambi has an overlay in Celsius as my HVAC is starting to look like a topographical map.

Yes, we do. There is a drop-down selection on the HVAC panel where you can chose a centigrade version.

    Thanks, Daniel.

Will check it out AFTER I check out my new oil leak problem that has left half a liter of oil on the parking lot tonight! Had to have it towed to the shop. GRRRRR Just after I picked it up after fixing some minor issues.
