A stunner! My wife and I are fans of the 500/600 cars and the many 500 derivatives. We don't own a Multipla, but have a 500, a Jolly, a 500 Giardiniera, others ... none in as nice condition as your Multipla. Enjoy.

I had a bianchina (sp) and then sold it. I love the micro cars. Is your pretty little car for sale?

No, my own Multipla isn't for sale at this time - I haven't really had an opportunity to show it and enjoy it yet! And there is almost no possibility of me finding another one that would be as good a "starting point" for a restoration as this one was.

I fortunately got a chance to see Jeff's Multipla this past Winter -- it really is super nice and detailed. Hopefully will see it at the Italian shows, the post office around the corner and being used a bit more often now around here...

I haven't seen the 1/18 scale Multipla before, thanks for the link. I'll probably order one this week. There is some rather amusing mis-information in the ad (the Multipla cost $7300?????? - it was less than $2000 new here in the USA).

    You're not hijacking, mate!

The piston rings for my 767cc Multipla came from Chris Obert, and were "Deves" brand. I had had my block bored out to match a new set of pistons I had purchased on ebay several years ago, so I knew EXACTLY what size I needed. Of course you will need to know whether your block is standard size or if the cylinders have been bored to an oversize, in order to obtain the correct ring size.

    Chris is at www.fiatplus.com

I'm sure they are available from other sources as well, I see them on ebay from time to time.

Note: A set of standard size rings, for a 62.0mm bore, is Fiat part #900713. There are four oversizes listed, in increments of 0.2mm.

    Tell us about your project!

Thanx Velocetwo. It certainly is not a terribly fast car, but boy,...is it loud and whacky, fun car to drive. I am 182cm (6' 2") and hard to believe that I fit in there. Jimmy

I always wondered if I would fit I am 6'3" . I am currently working on a barn find 1958 600. I am really enjoying it, so simple compared to other italian cars. My car was found in California and has no rust. It has it's 1971 registration sticker still on it.

I cleaned the gas tank, changed oil, checked the carb, got a new battery and after cleaning the points it fired right up! Working on the brakes right now.

That's great, Velocetwo ! You're lucky to be able to even locate one. I'm sure you are having a great time with the car. Maybe you can start a new thread by posting pics of your car ? I hardly knew a thing about Abarth until I came across this "double bubble" and I just fell in love with the looks. (Sorry for hijacking this thread). w/ smiles Jimmy

Lovely ! This may not be that uncommon in Southern California, but in France ? Hmmm. I suppose I do not know French enough. w/ smiles Jimmy

I see that a yellow Multipla sold for $44,000 at the Barrett-Jackson Auction last weekend (picture from their website is attached). I like the text where it says this Multipla has the "highly desirable front suicide doors" - that made me laugh out loud. I also liked their statement that this car has the original engine, when it's plain to see that it ISN'T original, it doesn't have the coolant thermostat housing for a Multipla. I could see at least 10 things wrong in the pictures, but they didn't claim that the car was 100% correct. Seems like they could have at least installed the tail light lenses right-side-up, though!

In spite of all the things you found incorrect, I really like the package. Nice period colors with white-wall tires.

I like it that you can just open the door while driving and look down at your front tires to check if they are up to pressure! hahahahha... Who needs TPMS??? ;-)
