    Hi guys I was wondering if anyone could help me and advise me on my gear change/gearbox issue. I have had a problem getting into 3rd gear mainly at high speed, started on the down shift from 4th but now does on the upshift from 2nd too. Does not do it all the time mainly when I have driven it abit. It is like crunching wyning sound but does not feel like its in the gear. I thought it was the sincro but people but have read could be the linkage ratios. Really weird as most of the time its drives like new but ON A FAST high speed gearchange ONLY IN 3rd it does this. The box also seems to wyn in 5th and 6th at higher speeds but low engine revs. Not sure oil has been changed in it for the last 3 or so years. So will try and change the oil first. So secondly what gearbox oil would i need to use for it. Its 51 plate 2002. model. I would really appreciate any advice and help guys (and girls, r there any?). Thanks H

    We have had quite a few of those with trouble of various types from too infrequent oil changes. It would be a good place to start. We change all our customers trans oil every year and have had no problems but not so for the cars that come here from the dealers.

    Hard to suggest an oil. You sound like maybe you are not in the US. Different oils in different places. Fill out your profile.

    I had similar problem on 2nd gear only on cold car or extremely hot car after tracking for more than 30 min. Haven't changed trans-oil for the last 6000 KM that might cause problem too as what Rifledriver said.
