Can we agree to post that list as little as possible? Scrolling through that thing on my iPhone took me 13 minutes! I hope that one day his 456 Wagons are made available, I need one for trips to Home Depot.
Anyone interested in the Sultan's car collection - or simply a great story - should check out this thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=85959 In it, several ex-employees with legitimate eyewitness accounts post; there are also many pictures of the cars and the compound. Well worth a read if you have a few hours with nothing to do and you want to read up on a subject that always comes up.
well the auction must be listed somewhere or are you guys full of poo.............someone post some links or go home................
I think i can at least identify 30 cars which are no in the sultan's hands anymore. Furthermore I doubt that there is a auction. The selloff was very careful and never in high numbers. Most of the cars on this list should be gone by now: given away as gifts, wrecked and sold. Don't forget that a fairly high number of this inventory is junk due to weather and lack of usage.
Rolls Royce they must have laughed all the way to the bank, some insane cars.Weird stuff like 2 door Mulsanne's by Hooper.
funny you should say that.I only know of his RR/B collection and most of it is rubbish/odd ball stuff he was talked into. A guy now living in Melbourne now,was involved in many of the RR/B purchases, made a lot of money as a broker? Some of the cars are unsalable. Couple of cars in Melbourne pre 1990 LHD,as new but awful looking things. Over time cars have been sold ie the Rolls Royce Silver Cloud 111 convertable built for him by Rolls Royce with modern parts/running gear. If I upset anyone on this thread,I'm sorry .But the fact IMO is that many of his RR/B cars are rubbish. ps.he helped RR stay in business for many years and for that thankyou.
been upsetting the natives Bobby ? asking for someone to be banned for hitting the quote button when a few others have ALREADY done it is pathetic
yea, 1st time without thinking,2nd time because I can. Truth of the matter is that the RR/B collection is awful and with the corect advice/help could have been fantastic all the way from the pre WW1 cars to the correct current cars. The Poms must have loved him all the way to the bank.
Yes, it is truly an amazing car collection. However, it is also illustrative of a totally megalomaniacal individual. He was forced to "exile" his brother, as the country was in an absolute uproar over HIS unrestrained spending. Hey, I am a capitalist, not a socialist, but it's really too bad that he didn't take a small amount of that money and put it into building his country's infra-structure. Just my $0.02.
Well, I've not found the link to the auction house, but as someone noted earlier, the sale goes slowly and in bits. Sorry if I confused anyone, I was under the impression that the auction was forthcoming. My mistake.
ot to admit some of his f cars and mclarens and the porsches , would be worth the money ........hmm rhd f-40 or f-50 anyone????
Wasn't the psychology involved when he and his brother were buying exotics. Newest, best, fastest, most powerful. OHOS, secondhand, used didn't cut it at all. Seriously glad he didn't buy every Ferrari that raced ever and lock them away from the world.
