Any ideas on what to use for the seats which may keep the leather in decent shape?

I used to detail high-end cars for a living when I was younger and I have a firm belief in Lexol. I cleaned and conditioned the seats in my 1999 355 Spider as well as the entire rest of the car and it made a vast improvement in the appearance and feel of the leather.

I would do the 2-step process once...wait about two weeks, then do another. I try to condition it every other month. A little excessive, perhaps...but the leather is 10 years old and the dryness has all but disappeared.

There are many different brands and some products are more complex if you are attemptiong to restore leather that is damaged. But simple cleaning and conditioning with Lexol is easy.

    Hope this helps!!!

I use Erdal leather conditioner and it does its job great. ( dash, seats bacs shelf,...) I like it because it is in spray and its easy to apply.

I use it on my BMW beige interior and on my black 348 about 4-5 times per year. seats are not slippery after use.

Be careful and wax before it gets cracks (afterwards it is too late)

For cleaning I use soft brush and mild soap in combination with original BMW Leather & Vinyl Care Products

I tried a lot of products and found out that these two work the best.

    Erdal for conditioning
    BMW for cleaning

+1 on the Lexol. I use the cleaner, then the conditioner as well. It's always worked well for me. The conditioner actually has a tanning agent in it, to keep the leather soft.

Connoly Hide Cream is great for my car. Some say it leaves a waxy residue, though I haven't noticed that at all. I like it because the car doesn't smell like a cleaning product after use.
