Invitation is for both of you...my cars are routinely shown here and I guess they just feel it belongs between the fire truck and the HPD SWAT team.....so I'm pretty close to both organizations......:D

It's been stored unkindly, since Katrina, and my copilot that helped me bring it home, is also gone...

It's protected now only by the "blessing" Mario Andretti gave it that afternoon, there was enough left of that to roll it away as Hurricane Ike destroyed the Texas coast...LOL!

Maybe the happiest picture is like the one you posted, the FIRST day of Ferrari Ownership...LOL!

Highest respect for those guys.....all my Ferraris have the 100 Club in one window corner and the Fireman's Union in the other...

It doesn't always help though, the HPD Mounted Patrol surrounded me the other day for THREE non moving violations ..the last one for still using "her" address!

The SWAT guys were lapping the lil' robot around my car, the kids loved it.....

Actually the blue one WAS purchased for my fiancee, after my yellow one made me divorced. It's a wonderful color in the various light conditions.

The color attracts very little attention from Law Enforcement, for whatever reason, compared to the red and yellow examples.
I suppose big racing numbers and a beer sponsor on the doors doesn't help! :D :D :D

Anyway, check back and they'll all be painted, tuned, and ready for a run to Cavallino.....someday!

Small world! Did you happen to see the watch Mario was wearing? My dad once met him on a plane trip cross country and sold him a watch- just thought that was funny! Also on the flight - "Oscar Goldman" remember him - thinking 6 million dollar man show?

A year and a half after the accident, the car was for sale as a "rebuildable rollover" with 1,600 miles; it was later identified as a 288 GTO conversion. No clue where the car is today, or if another car was "given" this car's VIN. But the accident was so heinous, it was never determined who was driving and who was the passenger.

    Holy Thread Ressurection, Batman!!!

IF that car is wearing the VIN, I guess "parts of it" must have been used.

Here's the info publicly available from the UK driving agency...

So it was declared as manufactured in 1984 and has a 2927cc engine and doesn't appear to be taxed since 1998

Been debating whether to put this link up or not as it's a newspaper clipping showing photo of the crash site (it was in a newspaper so nothing of a grisly nature is shown).

I've only posted it as you can see the car upturned and as far as I can tell the underside looks surprisingly straight so I can imagine it was mostly a case of rebodying to put the car back on the road.

Denny purchased a 1983 Ferrari BB Boxer 512 (just BB will do) from Los Gatos Ferrari. I was there the day before he purchased it. Nearly a 190 mph car, not bad for 1983. He wasn't prepared to drive it. The accident encouraged some high end car dealerships, and manufacturers to offer driving training.

One day at a restaurant/bar in downtown Los Gatos, CA in 1980 I had parked my dark green 911S in front on Santa Cruz Ave. It had been paited at the factory to match a color chip I provided. Last things the German company was going to do was to run production of Porsche vehicles that looked like they were British racing green.

A man named Bob Kolowich came up to me and asked, "Is that your green Porsche out there." I replied that it was. He then said, "How would you like to learn to drive it?" Some people might have reacted defensively but I encouraged him to tell me more. Turns out Bob had raced cars at Sears Point, Laguna Seca, and more. A few minutes later we were heading S. (appearance of west) on Hwy 17, and taking the cutoff at Bear Creek Rd. which winds its way to Boulder Creek.

Frankly, although it was my 2nd Porsche, I had no idea what that car could truly do until that day.

The car (1983 308 GTS QV, serial #42413) has been identified by his daughter. I remembered it as a 308 also.

Out of respect to the daughter I will leave it at that. I bought a 83' 308 GTS, a silver gray, since most were red, some yellow, some blue, some black. Barnhart and I had the same salesperson. He (Barnhardt was very serious about the 512 BB because of the 12 cylinders. Of my 85 vehicles, the two Ferrari's were not my favorite but much of it had nothing to do with anything other than driving characteristics. Am reviewing some of the photos now, and the images of the cowling, and deck lids cause me to question this. Nonetheless, it was tragic. I commented on this because several of us were just chatting about this incident last week.
    Thank you.

It was a 308. I worked at Walnut Creek Ferrari and we sold him the car. Further I was there for the legal discovery when all parties were allowed to inspect the car.

    It was a 308QV.......not a BB.

Taming the early 911 is a driving rite of passage. As you know, Ralph, once you do it it’s incredibly satisfying.
