    Monday nights random post

I have been asked to provide input for a Ferrari tech session and realized that I have no idea what a "Ferrari tech session " would involve. I for one have never heard of a Ferrari dealership putting on a tech session for it's clients or fellow Ferrari owners. Porsche, BMW, MB, yes... Ferrari, no. I realize that it has been done somewhere, but I figured , why not just ask for help on F-Chat... so here it goes....

    Question(s):

    1. If you have been to a Ferrari tech session, what did it involve?
    2. If you were to attend a Ferrari tech session, what would need to be offered to make it interesting?
    3. What would you want to get out of the tech session?
    4. What would a Ferrari tech day NOT include?
    5. Would you want food/drinks before, after, during the event?
    6. Would you be interested in actually getting your hands "dirty" ?
    7. What would have to be offered in order for you to make the drive to your local Ferrari dealership and spend a few hours in the back worth your while?
    8. Would you be interested in getting to know the people who actually work on your car?
    9. Are you interested in how the Service department actually works?
    10. Learn and ask questions about the Service process?

As always, thank you for humoring me and my never ending quest for Ferrari knowledge.. LOL

I am guessing this means that there is no need to organize a Ferrari only tech day? Or am I calling it the wrong thing?

Tech sessions can be great. Not sure why no one has responded.

    1. What did it involve?
I went to a tech session last spring and PPI's were discussed. This was a great starting place for the discussion to go from there, which it will when you get a bunch of car guys standing around a Ferrari talking about the mechanical aspects of the car.

    2. How to make it interesting?
Have a bunch of guys drive their Ferraris to the shop, cycle a few on the lift and discuss the differences of the cars.

    3. What do I want out of it?
Mechanical details about the car I own. Or even mechanical details about other cars.

    4. What to not include?
Talk about other marques. I love talking about all kinds of Ferraris, old, new, cheap, expensive, whatever. If guys showed up in their Porsches and Lambos and expected to be part of the session I would be turned off.

    5. Food, drinks?
Yes. Coffee, donuts, bagels, water, etc. As you can guess, the tech session I went to was in the morning.

    6. Get your hands dirty?
I don't know. I love getting my hands dirty but then I would have to drive my car home with my dirty hands. Usually when I get my hands dirty I wear my dirty clothes. So this should be considered with some reservation.

    7. What would make it worth your while?
    All the items above.

    8. Getting to know the people who work on your car?
    Yes.

    9. Getting to know about how the service dept. works?
    Yes.

    10. Learn about the service process?
Yes, as long as it focused on the mechanical aspects of the process and didn't get too heavy into the minutia of ordering and procuring parts.

Bottom line, most Ferrari guys are interested in all things mechanical and are interested in the Ferrari brand. So getting a bunch of guys to drive their Ferraris to a shop, put their car on the lift, and start talking about mechanical things should take very little "selling" on your part.
