The 'making of Rendezvous'. I wish I could understand it. http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=AHn5Q15kaIA&NR=1
The older gentleman just gave up the goods on the Rendezvous video. He talks about how he did the film and also scares the reporter during the drive! The car is a Mercedes-Benz 450 SEL 6.9! A very fast sleeper from the golden age!
I believe the older guy is Lelouche? However, I'm not yet ready to give up "the dream", for a few reasons: 1. He "lied" extensively about it for many years - Maybe he wants to come clean now, but he was always a "maverick" and IMHO may be continuing the "legend". 2. The "consensus" is that he used the MB in order to keep the ride "smooth" for the camera. My understanding was he used a gyro-stabilized thing and therefore "smoothness" shouldn't have been too much of an issue. 3. "Did the run again later in the Ferrari - And dubbed the audio!" - No doubt doable today, but I just don't see it - The echos off the tunnel and the bus (etc) are just too good IMHO. I've sent the link to some French-Canadian buddies of mine for comment - One of 'em in particular is a huge Lelouche fan and will hopefully get back with some good comments.... "Please say it ain't so!" Cheers, Ian
I don't have a clue what the video is about, the movie, but my heart is also broken now knowing that there is a place in this world where the streets are not clogged with traffic.
You're not a true "gear head" then! From the cover notes on the DVD: Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3RUtJhhxPg Enjoy!
Discuessed before. I think the end the maker came true and the whole thing was filmed from e Peugeot 404.
The driver nearly got charged (or did he?) after they found out his identity. Funny how if you saw young punk video taping himself doing burnouts around the city to get to his sweetheart then he would be locked up and his car confiscated.
Take a driving trip in New Zealand, you will struggle to leave. Corner after corner of fantastic roads, especially in the country. If my wife was not Australian, there is no way I would have ever left those roads ... damn her Pete
Thanks - I remember hearing about it, but hadn't seen it before. Just watched it though, and it just doesn't look like he's going that fast. Not enough to warrant that sound or the tire squealing. I remember a lot of news articles about this when it came up. Sure seems obvious that the sound and the video don't match up, though...
If that's true then he's *still* bull****ting about what/how he did it - According to my French-Canadian buddies in this "making of" video he says the camera was mounted on the Benz. He then did the run again in the Ferrari (he was known to have a 275GTB at the time) and dubbed the audio over the video track..... Despite the above comments, it does "match" remarkably well for 30 year old technology. If not a Ferrari, then what is the audio from? - It sure sounds good! Cheers, Ian
Forget that video! This video, posted elsewhere on the forum and a repeat repost offender, is much, MUCH better and there is no argument to its authenticity: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=c3c_1224311514
Who cares?? its a beautiful fabrication...and as someone who has braved the streets of Paree including the Champs Elysee..I just love the idea of a 275 hunting through the deserted, early morning, streets...top marks
Oh yeah, no worries mate. Watched again yesterday and showed a mate just then. I still think its awesome!
You may have seen an old black and white pirated version of this 1978 underground film of Ferrari 275 GTB driving through Paris at 140mph... http://www.fclv.org/
