Performance aside, this is the first I've heard of anyone bashing the aesthetics of the GruppeM. Am I alone in thinking that the GruppeM makes the 355 engine look very "supercarish". Stock F355 engine looks very boring, add a GruppeM and the carbon fiber masterpiece looks like something you'd find in a million dollar supercar, not an entry-level 355.

But!!!! If it does nothing then why have it. You guys could buy some K and N filters or BMC to get the extra 10HP for less. Buy a chip for $600 and spend the rest in high octane gas. Upgrade the headers or take off the Cats. The intake is not the problem.

...... not yet ............ the 5.2 airbox design is lacking more than the 2.7 ...... though after it is proven out I dont see why the 2.7 will not be looked into ..... :)

.... thanks James ...... it is about 30% complete ............. and intial flow bench numbers on the basic design improvements look very promising :) ................. though how the intake system redesign translates into rear wheel HP remains to be seen ..... :) ..........

    :)

I am making new prototype parts in aluminum that match the 355 engine compartment design theme. A fiberglass version may be in the works, if it will work as well or better than the aluminum. As you already know I am not a big CF fan .......... but there may be an exception or two for those with CF underpants ......... ;)

.... :D ............ IMO the gruppem 5.2 version looks like 'carbon clad fat lady parts' .............. it looks out of place in the 5.2 355 ....... if they made it similar to the gruppem for the 2.7 ......... it would match better IMO .....

+1 ........ the air cleaner elements are part of the flow restriction according to intial flow numbers ................. but free-flow air cleaners will not see their full potential with the current 5.2 intake box configuration ......... :(

True, but originally you got 375hp for $142,000.... could have bought a Corvette for $42,000 and had the same HP :)

I would not prioritize the GruppeM as a first modification, but once all that has been done, why not? You don't get all that carbon fiber in the engine bay with K&N or BMC filters.

As Robin pointed out, Ferrari is not about $/performance ratio. I could buy a Mustang 5.0 for $3,000 and with $4,000 in modifications put bus lengths on an F355 in a straight line or I could buy a Miata for $2,500 and with $5,000 in modifications lap the F355 at most tracks. But I paid $88,000 for an F355 because I wanted something a little more. Same with the intake, you can pay $150 for the K&N or BMC and sure it gets the job done, but some people want a little more.

Dave, could you please repost your gold connector kit and install tool set in Ferrari
    Ads.

I have obtained several wiring harnesses and can see that major problems have developed in the factory OEM connectors which are going to give false diagnostic codes.

    Thanks
