Where did you get the idea I was 14??? Anyway, I drilled the bottom off, swapped the wheels from a Nissan Titan, the red lip was already on there. Oh, and the cars, it is just really bad light they are all mint.
Someone on the CP forums brought it up. I take it you are older? Older than Reece at least Anyways, that 288 looks really evil. I may try to do the same but paint it silver. Did you spray paint yours? -Chris
Someone on the CP forums was wrong Yep, I sprayed it using Testors semi-gloss black. Gonna whip up a few more things this weekend
Kyosho makes them, hard to find only available in Japan so you have to buy online. The interiors are custom painted because they start off all black so we paint them by hand. The bodies start out great so no need redoing.
e-bay usually, but they are very difficult to find and you just have to keep a constant look out for them.
I haven't done many HW but have repainted/modified many Matchbox, Husky, champion, etc over the years. A Spanish company called Pilen did a Ferrari 312T4 years ago, looked like this: http://www.geocities.jp/tropicalfishlab2/Unknown/PFerrari312T42.JPG but repainted as Gilles' car, with a couple of added details: http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/6558/312t4dn0.jpg Paul M
Did some work on a couple of Hotwheels Ferraris. It's nice to see I'm not alone in my efforts to make these look better. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Awesome work! I really love that grey Maranello. What did you do to it? And where did you find the wheels? -Chris
This one is headed out to Roy. Dipped the body in aircraft remover, changed the wheels to real riders, swapped the interior, then used j&b weld. I used left over water slide tampos from a Schumi decal set. I posted it before but it has a better home here. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Awesome work! I really love that grey Maranello. What did you do to it? And where did you find the wheels? -Chris Thanks, I keep a jug of mineral spirits in the garage for stripping. Just leave the shell in it for a couple of hours and the take a small wire brush to chase out the flecks that remain. Jeweler's file and emory boards are used to smooth away casting lines and imperfections. Automotive sandable primer and spray paints and clear top coat just like a normal car, but not too much, or it will fill the details. Wet sanding between coats. JB Weld to fill design flaws and make alterations. I like JB Qwik because it cures quicker. A dremel tool and mag visor will make results better. Pick out lines with an ultra fine Sharpie. Wheels and tires come from "donor" models that I usually buy for just that reason. Rob
