High School was fun, but I moved on pretty quickly. My class was just under 1,000 and I've kept in touch with a small group of people who were actual friends. Funny thing, I went to my 10-year reunion--which was mercifully held at a large bar--and in my upper 20's I was stunned to see how horribly everyone had let themselves go! Probably 300 people there, and I swear I was the only guy in the room who wasn't overweight, balding and generally looking middle-aged. It was like I was at the wrong party. Had a pretty good hook-up with a flight attendant I knew back in school...Fast forward to the 20-year reunion, and they held it banquet-style at a country club like a 90 year-olds birthday party. I went out to the football game, and after 2 hours of listening to the grand accomplishments of everyone I ran into (NONE embellished, natch!) I decided against subjecting myself to an entire evening of that. So...

    High School--Fun
    College--Lots funner
20s + --Lots funner still. Like college but with money

I don't miss high school at all now. I'm too old.

When I was a teen I missed school a lot. Had several warnings about it. Even served detention. A lot.

Sorry I had to bring back an old thread :p

I graduate 09' and I am afraid I will miss high school A LOT. I have had so many moments that feel like they are right out of a movie, things that can only happen in high school. I feel like it only goes down hill after college, you actually have serious responsibilities. Mostly I think I will miss everyone being so close, all high school is is hanging out with your friends for 7 hours a day. Off to college and everyone gets split up, luckily I am going to college with one of my best friends. Hopefully I don't miss it too much and college will be fun!

I missed high-school for a total of 3 months between the time I graduated and the time I started university. Nothing compares to the college experience, nothing.

You'll make a lot of new friends at college and have more "movie" moments, probably with a better rating.

I haven't missed going to HS in STL for one minute in that last 18 years. Didn't go to 10 year reunion, don't plan on going to the 20. I was friends with a few people for some time afterward, not so much now. No real negative feelings, I just don't care. They did their thing, I did mine.

It might be normal for someone who really enjoyed it to miss HS for a few months, but usually moving onto to better things like college takes your mind off how "great" it was. Actually like most things it is that you remember an idealized version of it in your mind. If you could actually go back, you would find it somewhat less enjoyable than you remember.

For older people that miss it or still re-live your HS years, I find that very sad. Specifically look for what aspects of that time you miss, it will be telling. I have known people who do because what they really long for is a time when they didn't have to take responsibility for their lives.

Until your health starts to go in your later years, the best time in your life is RIGHT NOW.
