We here won't be solving the fuel quality problem but may take ques from other car makers to see what they are suing for fuel line. I was working on a mercedes yesterday and its fuel hose was some kind of really tough hard plastic. The fittings to the fuel filter were molded to the hose and used a klann fuel hose plier to squeeze the fitting release tabs to slide the fitting off the filter nipples. This plastic hose was really strong and does not have hose qualities of bendability or swelling and acts alot like steel brake line hose. I don't understand fuel hose science but maybe we should look beyond "hose"?

On that same note, I had a 1973 BMW 2002 tii. The tii part meant that it was fuel injected. The FI pump and system were taken from the diesel models. I was told the pressure output from the pump to the injectors was in the 600 psi range.
From the pump to the injectors were 4 formed plastic lines. The O.D. was approx. 3/8's.
My plastic fuel lines were "wet" 24/7 had VERY high pressure, never leaked, and were orig. from '73... I did replace them when I did the engine (not that they needed it).

What were they made of? I don't know but they were an opaque white somewhat flexible plastic that was from what I could tell, impervious to any fuel or additives that I used.

    Poor boy

excuse me if someone has already researched this or maybe i cut class that day, but has anyone
ever investigated the hose mfg. and specification of fuel hoses on current ferrari models?
if we knew the mfg. and the spec., we could find the usa equiv.hose be it gates or whoever.
not only that but we could all profit by this knowledge and end this armchair- expert- thing that
causes so much grief and needless expenditure for "the latest, greatest hose composition".
we ain't looking for the holy grail.
