    In 1970 when I was 16yrs old my brother (who is seven years older) had a neighborhood friend that showed up with a new Porsche 914 he had just bought. He toseed me the keys and told me to take one of my friends for a ride. We took off for an hour tearing up the back roads. It was quite a thrill for me since I was driving around in a 64 Ford Econoline van.
    When my brother told him I had bought a Ferrari, it was time for pay back. How could I say no to someone that let a teenager drive his Porsche. I let him take my 430 out yesterday for a 20 mile drive and here is a pic I took of him hitting 160 MPH. I did explain to him it would proably be the most expensive drive of his life since he now wants an F car. What is even more amazing is he still owns the 914. At least my 38 yr old debt is paid off.

    great story.....BUT.......160 mph!!!! HELLO!!! Where can I let my 430 loose like that in So Cal?

    I let a friend take one of my 550's up to 150 (he wouldn't go faster even though I egged him on) and absolutely loved the look on his face! It was more than worth it.

    Our long lost friend Jordan Witherspoon broke his own personal driving speed of 125 in one as well!

    The joys of living in the country. Perfect 2 mile straight with 2 lanes of FRESH PAVEMENT in each direction and a very wide dirt median between them and no entrance roads. If you come into it doing 70MPH it is very safe to obtain high speeds for a few seconds.

    Very cool story and thanks for sharing...you and I are the same age my friend.

    Little did I know at the tender age of 16 that some day I'd be driving these magnificent cars. But I can tell you the passion for high performance cars was burring bright in my heart at a very young age...thanks to my father.

    I'll see you at the next Paupers Run :)

    This is a great story. I have a similar story about a BMW car dealer. Iwas much younger and drooling over a 7 series BMW. The salesman walked up and asked if I wanted to test drive the car. I told him there was no way I could afford it. He said he didn't ask me if I wanted to buy it only if I wanted to drive it. So I took it for a drive. When I made my first real bit of money I went back there and bought a BMW from the same sales guy. He in fact remembered me.
