Since I was a child I felt like an outcast so Ive always been attracted to other 'outcasts'. Snakes and strippers would be a couple examples
I've always felt that way too, so I just sit around and converse with the invisible man in the sky. I can see some merits to your decision...
Strippers using snakes (...bad mental images....) sounds like some kind of bestiality site...STONE HIM!!!! ...just kidding ...still kind of perverted though... Frank
LoL I'm a big UFC fan. The story about the couch was actually pretty funny. I had a couch I was storing in the room they are in. The bottom of the couch didn't have anything to prevent her from getting up in it and it had quite a bit of room for her to get up in. I came bak from vacation and looked all over for her but she was nowhere to be found. I looked in the couch fifty times guys. I searched the house, the cabinets, the whole house. I came to the conclusion that somehow she had either been stolen or somehow got out. I even reported it to the police! So time goes by and I eventually moved that couch out into the living room where I sat for at least a month on it every night watchong TV. As I said earlier I have had my boa for around 8 years and she has been everywhere with me. I'm just as attached to her as you are to your dog cat etc. One day I decided to call up the local carpet cleaning service to get the whole house cleaned up. My neighbor was over and I asked him to help me move all the furniture out of the living room. We both grabbed hold and lifted and out rolls my snake! She was covered in dust but other than that she was fine. It was a great moment for sure. I had a smile from ear to ear partly because I didn't have to worry about the neighbors kids and that she wasn't being mistreated by some thief. I'm sure most of you guys don't get the snake as a pet thing and to be honest I understand. I never thought I would own one and I honestly got my first one just to see which one of my roomates would get bit first. Now 8 years later and the addition of the albino burmese I can honestly say that they are awesome pets as long as you treat them right and show them respect. Eventually the time will come when the albino will be to big for me to handle alone not so much due to aggression but just shear weight. He may end up between 14-20 feet and well over 100 pounds.
From the source - note the tail region is as big as the guy's thighs, rest is about same as his torso, and... one freshly eaten Impala, comin' right up! http://www.bushveld.co.za/pictures-python.htm You'd be surprised at what good escape artists Boas are, and where they can hide. Had a 3'+ Boa curl up in a Polk Audio R10 for a few weeks - he snuck in through a dinky speaker port after escaping a 2.5' high Octagon tank. Someone in the household "discovered" that at feedin' time, it is considered unwise to put a mouse within striking range unless one has washed a tasty In'n'Out double-double's scent completely off one's hands.
He evidently attacked the fence when he got zapped. That's a rough way to die. That thing sure does have some teeth.
Take a look at the size of the teeth in your two current snakes. It would be great if you'd post a pic of those. Your 7-foot-long red tail boa and 9-foot-long albino burmese python are pretty big snakes. I bet their teeth are bigger than you think! .
Why in the world not? I'd think a snake like that would be less dangerous than some breeds of dogs. Great stories Matt What do you plan to do after the albino gets too big?
The only problem I have with them wandering the house is that the albino likes knock things over. He has got big enough to climb up on top of pretty much anything in the house so I was constantly having to pick up after him. Now that he is in his own room things are not as hectic. As far as comparing it to some dogs I would much rather prefer my pets. Absoutly zero noise. I can't stand a dog that bark and barks and barks. They are pretty curious creatures too. They are used to me doing my thing around here and I let them do whatever they do and they are not skittish at all. It's not uncommon for me to be cooking dinner while having to step over one of them just passsing through the kitchen. I know 98% of you guys are sitting there saying WHAT THE HELL...HE HAS LOST HIS MIND! But as I said I have had them so long that I stopped looking at them as giant snakes and now they are no different to me than a Golden Lab or a German sheperd as a pet. I do got a funny story that will make you cringe. For some reason my boa cannot stand the water...she climbs out of it as soon as she hits it. Hoever the albino will stay in a pool or bucket or whatever he can get into and stay there for days. Maybe he thinks he was a fish in a previous life. So one day I was home alone and had just woke up to take my morning shower. (You can see where this is going) I'm sitting there with a head full of shampoo with my eyes closed rinsing my hair out when all of a sudden I just felt something run across my foot. Now for the normal person I can imagine what this would have been like. Pure absolute nightmare come true comes to mind and I will admit I did jump a little. I had accidently left the door open and you know who could evidently feel that the water was running. I guess he figured that there was plenty of room for him and decided to climb right in with me. Instead of freaking out and jumping around which could have ended up with a bad bite possible in the worst place a man could be bit I will admit I did laugh out loud for a second. I had to take a few seconds to wash the rest of the soap out of my eyes before I could grab him all the while thinking to myself what would have happened had it been my girlfriend or somebody over visiting. Once he gets to be full size I really don't see much difference in how I will treat him other than the fact that he will eventually have to go to a big enclosure. There is no way my house can handle a 16-20 foot snake climbing over entertainment centers and tv's. It will get to the point where I will have to have at least one other person to help me if I want to carry him. My boa is pretty much done growing and she doesn't mind being carried around. However the albino wants to get on the ground and explore so he is already a handfull to haul around.
